hi, i apologise if this isn't the right place to post something like this but i'm getting kind of desperate at this point. i use reaper as my DAW and windows 10 as my operating system. i recently bought a new computer since my old one is about 3 steps from death's door, and reinstalled all of the vsts i like to use in my music. all of them loaded in perfectly fine except for a collection of plugins from http://www.semanticaudio.co.uk/ (http://www.semanticaudio.co.uk/)# called the "SAFE plugins". particularly, the SAFE reverb plugin which i've been using for years now. (to download, click "research", then "SAFE plugins")

i'll explain in more detail:

before i bought the new computer and was still using my old one, the plugin in question at some point started taking VERY long to load (i didn't update it or anything). at the time i chalked this up to the computer's hardware degrading, although now it seems like a noteworthy detail. i assumed that it would go back to normal with the new computer.

well, on the new computer, it fails to load entirely. (reaper has a drop-down menu for all the plugins that fail to load upon a scan, and it shows up there). i've downloaded the files directly from the official website, from other mirror downloads across google, and i've copied the exact files from my old computer to my new one. still doesn't show up! i've made sure my vst settings are identical on both computers. my only theory is that the newer software that came with this computer is somehow failing to recognize the files correctly, or some feature is blocking them, or something like that. is that possible? i use plugins that are older than these ones, and they work perfectly fine.

reaper has an ini file with all the plugins it's scanned, the SAFE plugins are there, however the text it attributed to them is seemingly incomplete, like it stopped scanning them halfway through. the text is fully there on the old computer. (i tried copy pasting it to the new one but it didn't work).

so i'm completely stumped. i've been trying out different reverb plugins but so far i haven't found any suitable replacements. if you decide to download the plugins and are able to load them successfully, i'd appreciate any recommendations of similar sounding reverb plugins, too!

if anyone has had a problem similar to this before, or knows why this might be happening, i'd really appreciate any suggestions or advice. i'm of course willing to clarify anything in particular too. thank you for reading! and for any and all help.

Did you check to see if the files may have been quarantined by your AV software?
If so, you should be able to restore them and exclude your vstplugins folder from future scans.

The shorter lines of text in Reaper's plug-in .ini file indicate that Reaper ran into a problem when canning those plug-ins. It will ignore them completely on subsequent scans.

Have you got a 64.bit/32-bit mix up by any chance?
