What is the strangest synth you've encountered?

Oh man do I love that movie. The sound effects and John Williams' score fit the film like a glove.

My fave VST, although it never made it into a single track. The animation was so cute and delightfully pointless!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Last ditch attempt to copy over the VST, Standalone and Presets folder from a backup failed too - the VST just gets ignored by hosts, so I guess maybe it has some 32 bit code? The standalone won't start either.krzys wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 12:25 amaMUSEd wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 10:39 pmOK it won't install. That’s unfortunate. The dev has a wonderful synth that unfortunately didn’t receive enough airplay to take it further down the development path. Thanks for the heads up re: big sur.

Version 2 was first mentioned back in 2013; every now and then someone asks about Synplant 2 on the Sonic Charge forum and is usually met with a non-committal reply. I own all of the SC plugin catalog, but I stopped giving a shit about Synplant 2 a couple of years ago.Gribs wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:42 pm Synplant was definitely strange when I first tried it, but strange in a very good way. I so wish for a version 2, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I don't know what Magnus has been doing since he worked with Teenage Engineering to make the PO-32 (meh).

indeed a synth that i had my eye on, and in a way still.... but the forum... no replies.... The Mangle, also abandoned, can still be bought, and downloaded, for instance, but well €20 or so....aMUSEd wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 9:16 amLast ditch attempt to copy over the VST, Standalone and Presets folder from a backup failed too - the VST just gets ignored by hosts, so I guess maybe it has some 32 bit code? for €149, a price i will pay for 'strangest synth' or 'ecosystems', i will not buy it, even on Windows...
a shame, and also strange that it still can be bought (The Mangle, the developer does not reply....).
well, Spectral effects, there are great Spectral effects, and there are ways to in way mimic what Cycle does, without the worfklow, and SIgnal Flow... wel the signal flow, can be mimiced, the treatment is a different story..
if you look at these kind of synths, Csound, can get you there, or SuperCollider, Csound has the advantage of making vst plugins... SuperCollider, but i can be wrong, has more FFT, or better after FFT, treatment possibilities, but i can be very wrong about this, i looked around in the Capabilities of SuperCollider, for Csound only one time...
well Cecilia 5 of AJAX SOUND SYSTEMS can do also some Specrtral, next to other things;
