Annoying bugs in Cubase 11 pro

Hey all...

Been using Cubase 11 pro on win 10 for little while now and experiencing frequent shut-downs... Cubase just disappears out of the blue and I end up having to re-load a backup of project. And also not seeing my NI Komplete Audio 6 (older version) - have to keep plugging it in and out repeatedly until it decides to see it. To be fair, once it has seen the interface it keeps working.

I'm wondering about maybe a fresh re-install of the program (although not holding out much hope on that score since such things have never done much good in the past).

Or... maybe a downgrade.. if such a thing is possible. Is anyone using 10 pro on windows 10 - is it more stable? Would I lose anything vital from 11 pro... and I guess most importantly will I be able to open my 11pro projects in 10 pro??

appreciate any advice, cheers :)

Sounds like you need to address the obvious problem you’ve already identified with the interface first and see if that solves the Cubase crashing problem. Are the interface’s drivers and firmware up to date?

for me it was the VST3 suspending https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-u ... nd-crashes 11.0.3 seems stable otherwise try to use that one (at the bottom https://o.steinberg.net/en/support/down ... ro_11.html )

Well, first, Cubase 11 is at version 11.0.41, so it might be worth installing the update.
Then, “disappears out or the blue”? Without you doing anything? Just opening the project, or wile doing something?

Most of my Cubase crashes are the fault of one plugin or the other. Hard to diagnose, but it is worth looking at the windows event log, under the “application” section, or whatever it is called. Sometimes the log entry tells you which DLL has caused the crash.

If only it was a simple as that! Yes firmware and drivers are up to date.
I only got the interface recently, whereas Cubase has been crashing from day 1 with other interfaces too, but never failed to see them like it does with the NI Komplete.

Added to that is the fact that other software ,e.g. Adobe Audition, Ableton does not fail to "see" the interface like cubase does.

Downloading update at the moment... feel pretty dumb not checking that, but I have my main programs blocked from interenet so wasn't aware. Thanks folks - hope it does the trick.
@fese @xbits - there is a pattern to the crashes - either when selecting audio interface or when opening VST plugin, so hopefully 11.0.3 will address the problem.

I've had quite a number of crashes from C11 that were utterly inexplicable, some where I wasn't even interacting with it. Almost none generate a crash dump of any kind.
Lately more stable but it was doing one yesterday crashing on playback like it was just too much for it. And I'm nowhere near maxed out on resources. These are not incessant playback with long 'verb tails or things continuing to ring, needing to catch up first.
Much more stable under Big Sur. 10.5 was rock solid here.
