Very hesitant purchasing anything new from them until existing issues are fixed. Reported pretty substantial OpenGL issues which were acknowledged in October with both SmartComp and SmartEQ3. Almost two months later they're still unaddressed.

In smartcomp I get an error in the bottom section that says there is no OpenGL context or something like that. Plugin works but the bottom section only displays this error message.

I have not noticed that so might be very system specific and hard to track down. Have others reported that problem?rageix wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 10:17 pmIn smartcomp I get an error in the bottom section that says there is no OpenGL context or something like that. I'll let the Mastering Engineer decide how much limiting needs to be done, thanks
SmartReverb was truly dire. It'll take a lot to win me back - although SmartComp is better than good.

Doesn't look to me as if they update very often. I won't purchase anything from them, including upgrades, until they deliver native ARM builds for M1 silicon. Although some of their delay may be related to their decision to hitch their boat to iLok.

^^^ This. In SmartComp it doesn't show the graph in the bottom portion of the plugin which isn't exactly "breaking" overall functionality, but more of an annoyance.rageix wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 10:17 pmIn smartcomp I get an error in the bottom section that says there is no OpenGL context or something like that. In SmartEQ, the spectrum analyzer doesn't show at all (at least for me) with OpenGL enabled or not. While both plugins still "work" (e.g. you're able to utilize the controls and hear results) I would still consider these substantial issues, particularly with SmartEQ as large parts of the GUI aren't functional.
From their support back in October:
"Unfortunately we have got some similar reports in the last few days. The latest NVIDIA update seems to have broken openGL support, we are working on a fix."
This likely doesn't affect MAC or PC users utilizing AMD and/or iGPU Intel solutions, but I would think nVidia is a pretty substantial user base nonetheless. I believe 2 or 3 nVidia updates have come out since and the issue persists. I haven't encountered other plugins utilizing OpenGL that aren't functioning, but that's just my own observation. Not sure where the fault lies, but would like to see a resolution considering they're likely utilizing existing frameworks and GUI designs. Hopefully they've fixed it in this new release and will back port it to prior products, but I'm hesitant on purchasing anything else until that happens.

Interesting, didn't know it went back that far. But yeah I have an Nvidia RTX 3080 and that's the error I get.

Just loaded up the demo version of Smart:Limit to see if the OpenGL issues were present. Happy to report they're not at least in my brief observation, so hopefully this means fixes are on the way for older products as well.
No opinions on the product itself yet (barely used it) and will have to compare it to my usual favorites (Pro L2, Elephant, Elevate and Ozone). Looks like it has some interesting ideas, but it'll be an uphill battle against the competition for sure.

I really loved smart:limit. I think this is where their “smart” technology truly pays off (smart:EQ was a little cumbersome and gimmicky). I found I could push it hard and it still sounds great, and I really liked the saturation and metering.
A couple odd things I noticed though:
1. No oversampling
2. No dither (not the end of the world)
3. I had to turn off OpenGL on my 2019 iMac or else the GUI was unusable.
4. Despite having all those publishing target settings, it doesn't actually meet those targets. It makes a loud master then tells you how much the publisher will turn it down by. Not what I expected.
