Is a 49 keys midi keyboard portable enough to fit in your luggage for on the plane? If not, then I guess 61 keys is the best option then?

Post

My keyboard is 49 keys I think. If you ever play with two hands, that is not enough even for Fur Elise.

Common 61 keys span about one meter which is about 25", so it should be allowed on most airplanes. I'd recommend to put it in a flightcase, which cost as much as a cheap keyboard. But it saves you the embarassment of DOA.

ermm... 1 meter is more like 39"

TBH, I wouldn't want to take either one on the plane... a 32 or 25 key keyboard should be more suitable for that.

The dimensions of the keyboards are usually listed in the technical details.

i have two of that, but it really depend on what you want. For piano style, i recommend 61.

Basically it is same size of a 49-key keyboard and so slim.
Height: 5.3 cm ~ 2.10"
Width: 87.63 cm ~ 34.50"
Depth: 29.718 cm ~ 11.70"
Weight: 6.9 kg ~ 15.4 lbs.

Don't think KeyLab MK2 61 would be the right choice if you want to take it in the plane. I think you should consider looking into an additional, portable 32-key keyboard for travelling needs.

It could be that the first thing to consider is the kind of music you would be using it for, and exactly how.
