Every year for Xmas, we like to surprise our faithful users with a gift for their loyalty and support.

This year is no exception, so please give a warm welcome to Eminence, a free vintage-style plug-in to add 'mojo' to your music and give you that old-school sound!

'Rare' and unique flavor EQ

Eminence includes an ultra-rare '60s British 3-band EQ, used in probably one of the most famous and mythical worldwide broadcast studios, produced and developed at a time when record labels and companies maintained their recording studios, going so far as to design and build most of their own recording equipment.

Fat and Crunchy Compression

The 'Frankenstein' compressor fuses two different seriously 'Old school' solid-state dynamic processors in one (591: an Optical Compressor – 612: FET Limiter) from a renowned U.S. audio electronics company.

Color to your tracks

The preamp section includes the stages from all three units that comprise this powerful plug-in.

A little bit of history about the EQ

The EQ design of the sampled unit is a contemporary of probably one of the most famous consoles of all time from the UK in the '60s -there are only a few in the world, they are highly collectible and already sampled in our Cream Acqua plug-in. This particular EQ module was one of the last hand-wound point-to-point component EQs produced by a famous Broadcasting Corporation before they outsourced all of their console production to other major manufacturers, switching from Germanium transistor technology to silicon.
This EQ, now faithfully reproduced in the digital realm, is one of the last series of germanium EQs to remain in history, so it has become very sought after on the market.
The sampled hardware came from a broadcast console from Bush House in central London, now located at the Atom Heart Studio in Italy owned by Corrado Rizzone.

Is Acustica Audio still so CPU hungry and glitchy?

Although we use a different technology than the rest of the developers, the CPU consumption is well tolerated in current systems. It's free, try it!

Yes, still CPU hungry. Glitchy? Only if the machine doesn't have the power to run them. But with a good CPU match there is no glitching. There are drop outs when parameters are changed because, I guess, files need to be loaded into the plugin being sort of IR based. My 12 year old mac pro runs AA pretty good with Reaper but only with a limited number of instances, depending on what they are.

Thats exactly what I meant! It wasnt end of the world, but annoying. Still CPU was hurting too much to use them. Too bad, because they sound best!

Thanks Acustica. Sounds good as usual.

@Acustica: I see a bunch of Monterey compatibility updates is Aquarius, yet I'm on PC.
Why do we have to update if it's Mac only?

Cheers

Because formats like VST and AAX are for both Mac and PC, you can choose not to update for now.

One of the best AA plugins imo
I have tested it on drums and 2-bus.
What a nice vintage sound

12% for one instance of this, for me. Acustica plugins are crazy CPU-expensive... Not sure if that will ever change. But if you can spare the damage, they can be very worth it (the closest software gets to analog, if you ask me) - just check out the high shelf on this thing, wow :o

Anyway, it's free so go easy on them. Thank you Acustica - Merry Christmas!

Just tried, and Ill be damn! Sounds even better than i expected. Takes somewhere arround 12% on my CPU as well. Guess Ill be printing those tracks. Im leaning towards that workflow anyway, it keeps me away from tweeking too much

CPU hits are all subjective to your Cpu and the audio drivers that run your Audio Interface. I just ran an instance at 6% this is while my audio interface is set to 8 samples.

Great sounding stuff as always Acustica!
