Avoiding recording session clips to arrangement in Live and Bitwig

Hi,
I realized that in Logic when recording a track in arrangement mode, one have the option to also record the previously created cells to arrangement or not. It seems in Live and Bitwig they are recorded no matter what. So when doing vocal takes on arrangement over some clips they are always auto recorded too. Is there no way to avoid this?
Thanks

No. But hopefully seeing alternative implementations of clip launcher / session view in Logic and lately in MuLab devs of Bitwig and Live will consider some changes, too.
Please write to their support(s) suggesting that.

There is no way to stop that in Bitwig. However, you can record vocal takes in the Clip Launcher in Bitwig.andypryce wrote: Wed Dec 29, 2021 8:17 am Hi,

In Live there are 2 record buttons, one for Session and another for Arrangement.
So in Live you have 3 main options (depending on which buttons are used), you can record to only Session, record to only Arrangement, or record to Session while the Session Clips are also recorded to Arrangement.

Yes. And they're asking for 4th option - recording in Arrangement while playing stuff in Session, that's not being recorded in Arrangement. Neither Live or Bitwig have that.pottering wrote: Wed Dec 29, 2021 8:33 pm In Live there are 2 record buttons, one for Session and another for Arrangement.

And at least in Bitwig it make no sense at all.
When I brought it up rather forcefully with the devs a long time ago, they stared at me with totally blank expressions.
I have no idea why it should be the default at all, they seemed to have no idea why it shouldn't...
I understand the usecases, but I do not understand at all why it's not only happening when a track is record enabled and the user actively enabling it.
And I hate it with a passion, especially since it's overwriting stuff on the arranger, so it's not only stupid but destructive...
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Cheers,
Tom

I'm always for correcting failures of imagination. I.e., limitations that are there simply because the the devs didn't think anyone would want to do that. That said, current implementations, especially if insufficiently modular, may stand in the way.
I find it hard to believe that the Bitwig guys would ignore this, but there are a few other things I find extremely odd that they defend. Theirs is a particular focus.
