Anyone have the RAW JD 800 waveforms?
I have been googling it and all the links I found were ancient and broken. Hoping someone has them laying around some place?
thank you

I think those wouldn't be available, or tough find, probably as that may be illegal. I know Roland went after people that used certain samples (especially from the D-50). AFAIK presets you make can be sampled (not factory presets) but the waveforms can't.
For example, UVI has some Roland synths sampled (their own presets) but you can't access the individual waveforms from those.

There is Jaded800 waveforms at http://www.modularsynth.co.uk
But those are pretty poor quality. Only 108 samples (one sample per waveform, no multisamples), too short samples, out of tune, bad loop points, etc. I guess even Roland does not care about distribution of that sampleset because those samples are so far from the original JD-800 waveforms.
Maybe the best way to get the raw JD-800 samples is to buy Zenology Pro or JD-800 plugins from Roland Cloud and sample the raw waveforms there. The full raw JD-800 waveform sampleset contains about 1000 samples, and most of them are looped. Finding the right keys to sample can be a bit tricky, and finding the perfect loop points can be slow and tedious process. Don't know if it's worth it. In the end, the raw JD-800 waveforms are not that special. You probably only need those if you want to recreate some famous JD-800 presets. And then it would be easier to just use Roland Cloud.
If you only need something similar, not exactly the same sound, then you can find better waveforms and multisamples in many synths and samplers, even for free.

No, because those presets still use Roland audio recordings. It's the audio recordings that are the protected under law items. Presets aren't even recognised under law as something you can copyright... they are just a "combination of settings" and therefore not a copyrightable work, legally speaking, iirc.Examigan wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:22 amAFAIK presets you make can be sampled (not factory presets) but the waveforms can't.
UVI have always been careful to limit the recognisable stuff they sample from these instruments - so the SY77 stuff is pretty much mostly the FM stuff, the M1/D50 stuff is mostly fairly generic waveforms or from the synth sections that aren't quite so easily identifiable, than the really obvious and clearly identifiable samples. So they mostly skirt around those "naughty" issues. For the rest, eg the Emu stuff, they probably get official permission and/or pay licensing.Examigan wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:22 amFor example, UVI has some Roland synths sampled (their own presets) but you can't access the individual waveforms from those.

Aren't they right there when you pull up the Roland Cloud Plug?vata44 wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 6:17 pm Anyone have the RAW JD 800 waveforms?
