Hybrid Demucs V3 is just out, and the quality is IMO quite mindblowing. Just listen to the drums on the Yes track in the post as an example. Attacks are preserved, and everything is quite well-defined with little spectral artifacts. If something, the "other" stem is usually a bit blurry since the (I guess) more high priority vocal/drum/bass tracks eat away the transients because of frequency masking.

In the future I would love to train this more on just the "other" stems of music, so that it could potentially further separate pianos and guitars too. With guitars though I think the transient smearing after already separating several stems might become problematic.

In any case this is super interesting, and great tool to look into my favourite music to understand better what's happening there. Because, honestly, even if I have pretty good ears, it's hard to keep concentrating on all the small details of a full mix.
