hey guys, i didnt update/install WAVES plugins a long time now, maybe 2 or 3 years now? i still got the version 9 afaik. i got a few plugins which is written verion 13x, version 12x etc. so i wonder, what happens if i start waves central, activate everything and update/install?
will the new versione be compatible with old projects?

when i for example load LO-AIR by waves this is the wrapper info in FL Studio

i remember that there was heavy recommendations not to update but yeah i cannot use the newer plugins then or install :D

Unless you paid WUP for those v9 plugins, you will only be able to update them to the last v9 version, nothing higher.

For v9 plugins, see here: https://www.waves.com/support/how-to-in ... aves-v9-92

Anything higher, v10 etc. can be updated via Waves Central, I think.

You can install different versions side by side. What you can't do is use the version 12 plugin of something you bought at version 9 unless you pay for WUP. I'm not sure there's much point in doing that if you are on Windows though. I think I have various Waves plugins on versions 9, 10 and 11 - depending on when I got them - all coexisting, and never saw any need to upgrade them.

Just make sure you have the right Waveshell installed for all the versions you have and make sure they are licensed properly.

thanks a lot guys!
yes exactly, i dont have WUP for all, i wont do so as long as they work :).
but when i installe the v10, v11, v12 versions does every version get a seperate SHELL dll?

theoretically, when i do WUP for a v9 plugin wont it be loaded correctly in a project? eg. i used Renaissance bass v9, and now updated to v12, will fl studio load the plugin correctly? even if it is not v9 anymore but the project is saved with v9?

im sorry to ask but i dont want to destroy my settings and it is so stupid made with these versions.... i remember having a prob before v9 i think and was pretty angry...

It can be even worse: sometimes (most of time indeed) you got more than one waveshell for each major version. By example, right now on Ableton I have 4 waveshells for V10, 4 for V12 and one for V12. I think that I have uninstalled my V9 plugins (don't remember exactly why), and have no upgraded to V13 - I have some V13 licenses, but didn't update the plugins yet.

This actually explains why reinstalling these is such a pain. Waveshell is for each version. Interesting.

thx, so i should install WAVES CENTRAL and then start it up, it wants to get some windows permissions, does it do something suspicious or is it trustable to permit? i did click cancel first.

They're like Izotope / Native Instruments etc, they install multiple versions of everything (32 bit, 64 bit, VST2, VST3, mono, stereo etc) - they fill up your computer with junk and you just have to live with it. I still can't figure out why I need AAX versions of Softube plugins... :x

However, pay attention to the version number of the WaveShell files. You need the corresponding version number to run your 'legacy' Waves plugins. If you have V9, V10, V11 Waves licenses - check in Waves Central or in your website user area what versions you have - then you need to create them manually. Waves clearly do this on purpose - as soon as a new version comes out, they pretty much drop the old versions from Waves Central management. But don't worry, it's a lot better now than it used to be, as Waves Central has some extra functions for this.

Open Waves Central and click on 'create offline installer', or whatever that option is on the left side - and make offline installers for your legacy Waves plugins (V9, 10 etc). Install them and they'll work alongside your V13 stuff that you install via Waves Central directly.

Then, as always with Waves and FL Studio, you need to do a complete rescan and reverification of your plugin directories from scratch. Then you should see your legacy Waves stuff popping up in the plugin list.

Note: There's also some functions in Waves Central under Settings, like "Repair", "Version Organizer" etc that can really help. Waves did a lot of work after so many complaints, but there are still some quirks. For peace of mind I created a USB license stick for Waves - which I recommend doing too. But the truth is I try not to use anything from Waves anymore because when they break compatibility in old DAW projects it can really be a pain in the A.

i got v13 now installed in FL Studio, but my v9.92 wont load :( i found the old installer on waves:
https://www.waves.com/support/how-to-ro ... aves-v9-92

did anyone test if you can have this version installed + the v13?

Waves is a mess in FL Studio...
