Demo version of RapidComposer makes no sound

Hi,

this is probably a really dumb question - but: I downloaded the demo version of RapidComposer (onto a MacBook Pro running macOS 12.1).

I can't get it to make any sound, either when I run it as a standalone app or as a software instrument or MIDI FX plugin in Logic Pro. Yes, my sound is working OK. For example if I put RC on a track as a MIDI FX plugin, when I turn the plugin off I can hear notes when I play my MIDI controller. But when I turn RC on, once again I can't hear anything.

Also, yes I am doing stuff that should (I think) produce sound. Like pressing the "play" button.

Does the demo version not make sound? If so I will find it difficult to evaluate and decide if I want to buy it.

Is there something I need to do to enable sound?
While I am here, what does make it a demo version? Does it expire after a certain time period?

PS. In the standalone version, if I go to Settings/Audio and click Test Audio, I do hear the tone. But I don't hear any other sounds in RC....

I have added a VST (VItal) in the Settings/VSTi area. Still no sound. Not sure what to do....

I am not sure what exactly happened.

Of the 3 types of instruments (MIDI, soundfont, VSTi) 'soundfont' and 'VSTi' requires working audio, the sequencer uses the audio timing. If the audio is not set up, pressing the PLAY button will not start playback.

On the other hand a 'MIDI' instrument only sends MIDI events to an external software or hardware synthesizer or DAW. The audio engine can be disabled.

While I am here, what does make it a demo version? Does it expire after a certain time period?

The demo expires after 30 days, but each new update will restart this period.
File export is disabled in the demo version. The VST plug-in does not restore its state.
In the unlocked version there are twice as many chord progressions, and several additional rules: Pop Major Scale, Pop Minor Scale, Aeolian, Dorian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Phrygian Rules, Bach Major Scale, Bach Harmonic Minor Scale, Mozart Major Scale, Mozart Harmonic Minor Scale rules.
Additional chord progressions and more than 42000 phrases can be downloaded from this forum.
