Hi, I’m a PhD student at New Jersey Institute of Technology in the US, doing research about audio/sound/music, technology, and accessibility primarily for people who are deaf/Deaf/hard of hearing.

I would really appreciate it if you could participate in the survey and/or share it with others who might be interested in it.

As part of my PhD research, I'm trying to explore the accessibility of audio creation/editing activities by people who are deaf/Deaf/hard of hearing, such as playing music, sound art, audio engineering, podcasting, etc. The purpose of this survey is to learn more about its accessibility and guide further research into how design and technology can make such activities more accessible. It will take about 20 mins to complete.

Here is the link to the survey.

I would also appreciate it if you could share my tweets.

Wow, all the best to you in your research, that is a great topic! :tu:
I have tinnitus and some hearing loss from my bass playing years.
Drummers' cymbals in one ear and guitar amps blazing in the other.
Have you explored how the sense of touch is engaged by say, really good subwoofers, or haptic devices like the Subpac?

Hi, Winstontaneous, thank you! I’d love to listen to your play if you don’t mind sharing :-)

Yes, I have been trying to explore how the sense of touch is engaged in perceiving sound. I have never tried the Subpac by myself but I heard a few people I know who are deaf/Deaf/hard or hearing like it. I want to try it but haven’t got a chance yet.

I also play the drums myself, and I like the physical feedback and sense of vibration that the drums and sticks create. Speaking of drums, I like the video of Evelyn Glennie, a professional percussionist and deaf, explaining the concept of touch the sound. https://www.ted.com/talks/evelyn_glenni ... anguage=en (https://www.ted.com/talks/evelyn_glennie_how_to_truly_listen?language=en)

Thank you for your comment!
