Focusrite usb port stopped working

Hi,
I've been using a Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen for a few years, but the usb port stopped working. I bought it used, so I don't have guarantee. What would you suggest me to do? Is there a way to change the usb port at home?
I found my old u-phoria umc22 that I'm using now, but I have a question, do you think it would work fine with the Focusrite kit condenser microphone? I see the umc22 has a 48v option, but would it work fine or it could damage the mic?
Also, am I losing quality in sound using the umc22 as my computer soundboard instead of the Focusrite?
Thank you.

Unlikely you can repair it yourself. If you had the knowledge, tools, parts & skills, then you probably had already tried.Ksamphos wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:35 pm I've been using a Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen for a few years, but the usb port stopped working. My guess is that shipping + repair by Focusrite themselves costs about the same as another second-hand unit. So I'd call this unit written off.
Is that the CM25? That does require 48V phantom power, which is an industry standard. So that should work fine. I've never heard of a mike being damaged by phantom power. The industry standard electrical design is rather fool proof.Ksamphos wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:35 pm I found my old u-phoria umc22 that I'm using now, but I have a question, do you think it would work fine with the Focusrite kit condenser microphone? According to Sweetwater, the Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 has "genuine MIDAS microphone preamps, which delivers truly impressive sound."Ksamphos wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:35 pm Also, am I losing quality in sound using the umc22 as my computer soundboard instead of the Focusrite?
So I'd use this interface as long as you don't find anything other wrong with it. But you did replace it at one time. Did you notice a difference then?

Thank you very much,
It's indeed difficult to give a farewell to such a lovely metal creature as a focusrite board... I'm not saying I'll give up but I do valorize your reasonable advice!
Good to know I can use the umc22 with my mic,
About the sound difference, I don't have mixing trained perception, so... I did notice some difference, but not sure if good, bad or neither

can you please provide a little more detail?
Does the OS say it doesn't recognize the device?
Does it not appear in Device Manager?
Does it power up from the USB port? do any of the LEDs light up?
or is it "completely" dead...

Depending on where you are in this world, there might be somebody nearby who can fix it?
FYI I'm in the Netherlands and have a soldering lab to fix all my old and retro stuff.
(Also use it professionally)

Hi,
I had trouble with this type of usb port before. I had issues using a launchpad and it would fail intermittently. So I ordered some higher quality usb cables and it started working fine.
I know this is a different piece of HW but have you tried replacing the cable? Also have a good look in to the USB port of the 2i2 and see if there is any dirt in there and try blow it out somehow.
Incidentally I have the same audio interface but no issues with it.
