i just saw a video to create REX files with slices etc. looked pretty cool, but is Recycle still great for it or are there better and more advanced apps nowadays? i dunno much about Reason and REX history :)

Its age leaves it a little klunky, but it's great for rex, slicing out single samples, and midi trigger/groove files.

Neither, really!

There still isn't really a drop-in replacement to tune your own REX files. But it feels rather expensive given its age and lack of development.

A lot more samplers and DAWs have comparable features now for slicing-based timestretching. But that's still not quite the same workflow as preparing a library of REX files and dropping them in where needed.

Anything over 6 months old should be tossed out a newer shinier version purchased.
