Build-Your-Own-Distortion (BYOD) is an audio plugin that allows the user to create custom guitar effects, with a focus on guitar distortion. The plugin contains emulations of guitar distortion and tone-shaping circuits from various, along with a handful of other useful effects.

How cool! Grabbing that immediately, I'll use it finishing up this track tomorrow and see how it does for me. Expecting it to be really useful based on prior experience with ChowDSP.

Some of this sounds great. The compressor doesn't seem to be working though??
Edit: My bad, it is working, operator error.
This is very nice.

This is a really neat and capable toolbox, with a lot of interesting things you can do to shape your sound. Very cool. I will say, something about its GUI causes my whole DAW (Reaper 64-bit, on Windows 10) to start visually lagging behind actions that I take, all over it - including plugin search window, FX enable/disable, record arm visuals, you name it, once I load up BYOD it starts not rendering correctly and if I remove BYOD it goes back to normal. I haven't tried in OpenGL mode, perhaps that would help, but it made it pretty much impossible for me to work normally with it open as it was very difficult to see what I was doing. But, the sound is great and the array of processors is very impressive!

Yes, selecting OpenGL from the plugin settings (cog bottom left) fixed these issues for me in my host (Waveform) so might do same for Reaper.Agreed wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:25 am This is a really neat and capable toolbox, with a lot of interesting things you can do to shape your sound. I had the freezing GUI issue in REAPER too. Enabling OpenGL fixed it.
I'd kind of like to comment that it's a bit CPU hungry, but then again, right off the bat I built a setup with a dozen modules (because, why not?) so it's not exactly unexpected

There's a forking scary bug when using the Tone King module and BYOD is in Stereo mode. Adding Tone King generates a 21dB spike, while switching modes (overdrive, boost, both) generates a 43dB spike in the right channel.
Lucky for me I've got Reaper's track auto-mute set to 12dB over.
Put a limiter on the track, right now, until it's fixed.

This is a crazy good sounding stomp box style distortion plugin. The Big Muff at 2 stages just doesn't sustain like any of my muff peddles but at 3 or 4 stages it feels the closest of any muff plugin I've used. The Screamer and Distortion+ are terrific too. I really hope more vintage fuzzes get added (namely: a Tone Bender and Fuzz Face).
Gotta look for a donate link. Really want to kick some cash over for this one!
