Debating on purchasing Spire

I have the opportunity to be featured on a blog where I will be showing how to use various software. I had planned on purchasing Spire (I've been using it as a demo) because I am considering using it for a piece I will be showcasing using various software in my discussion on the blog. The problem is that I found out that Reveal Sound is based out of Russia (by the way I am in the US), and I'm wondering if that will be a problem. Am I just being paranoid, or is it a legit concern? I can probably use some other VST, but I'm really liking the sounds for my piece with Spire. I just don't want a big deal made of me using Spire that it overshadows what I am trying to accomplish in my discussion on the blog.

As I have no idea what your exact thoughts in that direction are, that's impossible for me to answer. What are your concerns exactly?terriandralph wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 5:34 pm The problem is that I found out that Reveal Sound is based out of Russia (by the way I am in the US), and I'm wondering if that will be a problem. There was a fantastic new update today for Spire, I had no hesitation in updating- I feel sorry for the vast majority of Russian people who can't do much about the situation but will suffer, how would you feel if everyone boycotted the US (and UK were I am from) over the the illegal and unjustifiable Iraq war? Blame the leaders at the time, not the people/country.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I don't want to get into the political side of things (even though I also have an opinion about the current news coverage), but, yeah, pretty much that. People like Reveal Sound really have nothing to do with all that.
Anyway, as I really don't know what the thinking and considerations behind this are, I really can't comment on it further.
BTW, as their "office" (probably the virtual one...) seems to be in the Czech Republic, they're hopefully not subject to any sanctions. At least I hope that they're not subject to all the crap that's done against the general population at the moment.

There are a lot of wavetable synthesizers that sound similar if you tweak the right knobs: Serum, Dune, Sylenth1, Massive, Ana, Rapid, Massive X, Synthmaster, Vengeance Avenger, Icarus, Phase Plant, Pigments, Hive, Thorn, Strobe, Predator.
No need to use anything from Russia at the moment.

If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

seems excessive. they're not responsible for the actions of putin.
not the place, but the best way to win any war, is show the populations "we are the same, we just want to get on in peace, same as you"
you don't do that by punishing the innocent.
the only issue i possibly see, is purchasing, but if as mentioned above that's handled elsewhere, should be fine

I think you need to decide upfront how you're going to respond to any commenters who DO have a problem with you using Spire.
This sounds more like a public relations and perception issue. If you feel there's a chance your business/public persona could come under fire... and it sounds like you want to avoid anything that distracts from the work, then it might be good strategy to avoid using anything controversial.
But which synths you buy in your private life is entirely your business.
I guess I'm saying go ahead and buy Spire, but maybe don't use it in public unless you're wanting to make a statement, or prepared to respond to people who perceive that as a statement.

Why would the OP care what other crazy people think?
What is the OP's concern? That virtue signaling tards might take offense at your choice of synth?
Only a lunatic would object to somebody's choice of a synth, because of where the synth came from.
I bought Spire last Black Friday and I'm pretty happy with that synth. I didn't know that the company was Russian until I read this thread, but that doesn't change anything for me at all.
As a matter of fact, I was using Spire just last night when I was working on a track and I'll continue to use it in the future too, and I couldn't care less if any lunatics would object to that. I would go out of my way to shove it in their face as a matter of fact.

Many thanks for the comments everyone. It's really helped me in considering all viewpoints. Will probably keep reading posts to help me in making some decisions.

Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.
