Dear KVR Members,

We are happy to announce new versions of Blue Cat's PatchWork, Axiom, Late Replies and MB-7 Mixer, our multi-effects processors also capable of hosting third party plug-ins.

These free updates add the ability to load third party Audio Unit plug-ins that are not compatible with Apple Silicon while running natively on the M1 processor. PatchWork and Axiom applications now also include a network server mode to be run remotely from another app with the recently released Connector plug-in. They also include several enhancements and fixes (full change list below).

The free update can be downloaded from the same location as the original full version (link received by email upon purchase). Demo versions are available on www.bluecataudio.com in most plug-in formats for Mac and PC (and as a standalone application for PatchWork and Axiom). All four plug-ins are on sale until the end of April (up to 23% off).

What's new for all plug-ins:
- Native Apple Silicon (M1) version can now load Audio Units that are not compatible with Apple Silicon (via the MacOS bridge).
- Presets can now be loaded via MIDI even when the user interface is closed.
- Fixed MPC Beat plug-in not loading.
- Fixed VST3 version not always loading properly in Ableton Live 11.
- Fixed latency compensation changes not always picked up by host applications.
- VST3: Fixed parameters update issues in Studio One when bouncing tracks.
- Fixed VST & VST3 automation not recording properly in some hosts (Cubase 11, Ableton Live).

What's new for PatchWork 2.52 & Axiom 1.62:
- New network server mode to run as an audio/MIDI processing server for the Connector plug-in.
- Improved MIDI events timing precision in the application.
- Audio engine can now be restarted from the audio settings window in the application.
- Windows: ASIO Control panel can now be launched from the audio settings window in the application.

System requirements:
- Intel or M1 Mac running Mac OS 10.9 or newer.
- Windows PC running Windows Vista or newer.

Pricing:
Blue Cat's Axiom: 159 EUR or $159 (instead of 199) until April 29th
Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer: 99 EUR or $99 (instead of 129) until April 29th
Blue Cat's PatchWork: 89 EUR or $89 (instead of 99) Until April 29th
Blue Cat's Late Replies: 99 EUR or $99 (instead of 129) until April 29th

Enjoy!

Super thanks, could you post a step-by-step guide on how to use Patchwork with Connector on a Slave as well as the same machine as DAW.
Mac Studio M4
15.7.3
Cubase 15, Ableton Live 12

Have you already read our tutorial about how to offload plug-in processing to another machine?

There is almost no difference if you use one or two machines, except that you will use either "Network" or "Localhost" modes.

You've created an AU Apple Silicon bridge in Patchwork? Brilliant! I'm sure lots of folks will be glad to see that.

No, it is "simply" using the bridge included in MacOS (that very one that Logic uses).

Feature Request:

Since Hosting AU will likely never be updated again, and is very unstable on M1, and of course does not support native plugins, I use PatchWork as a lightweight plugin host when I'm out on the go. It's fantastic for this.

There are only a couple things that would improve it for this use case:

1) A plugin browser.
2) A virtual MIDI keyboard.

#1 is not that big of a deal, but it would be nice to be able to quickly select a plugin from a menu, vs. having to use the file open dialog box.

#2 is important to me, because I don't carry around a portable MIDI keyboard, and setting up my iPad for this purpose is a bit of a pain. At present I use the MidiKeys app, but that's just one more thing to load, and I have to remember to launch it first, or PatchWork cannot see it.

By the way: The Connector integration is outstanding. I need to test this some more, but it looks like this can replace VSL Ensemble Pro for many use cases. I'll be curious to check any latency differences between the two.

Thanks for the many affordable updates. 8) I could tell even the installer is improved, by watching the terminal output fly past when installing Axiom in linux. It's the best 'linux audio' software out there, even if not part of the master plan  :hyper:

have the emails with loyalty discounts gone out to regular customers yet?

(1) is indeed something we'd like to add in the future. You can already save your favorites so that they appear directly in the plug-in menu.
(2) Why not, maybe as a built-in plug-in? Do you intend to use the mouse and click on notes, or use the computer keyboard to play notes?

Glad to see that it keeps running well on Linux! I guess you are running it thru WINE?

As for 2: A computer keyboard.

As for 2: A computer keyboard. I'm somewhat agnostic as to how that would be setup. But the common setup uses 2 rows for the notes, with Z,X changing octaves, and C,V changing velocity.
