Unfortunately there is a problem with links to the osc website posted on this forum. It seems Google is intercepting them and sending to a 'safe browsing' check page to inform that it is safe. The stupid google page does not offer a quick way to access the url requested though.eyedproject wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 12:44 pmThanks!! Yeah, as doctor bob said, use of modulation effects is an absolute NO .
OSC Rules
Effects - what is NOT allowed:
- Chorus, flanger, phaser, rotary, or related modular effects.
- Any type of modulation effect (e.g. chorus, phaser, flanger, rotary etc.). (Please note that effects like reverb or delays that perform modulation to achieve their sound are ALLOWED, but the modulation usage must be minimal.)
- Tapestops, Granular delays, pitching, or related sampling effects.
- Effects that pitch the sound (e.g. pitched / granular delays, tapestops etc.
- Turning up the effect too much where it transforms the nature of the synth (Heavy overdrive / distortion, etc)
- Any effect that transforms the sound to make them unrecognizable as being from the synth (Overdrive, heavy distortion, bit crushing, or related). Never go full 11 .

I tried FF and with the default settings it behaved the same as Chrome did. It's probably whatever ad/tracker blocking you have set up rather than the browser as such. There is a script from skimresources.com that I think is responsible for replacing the sites.google.com link with a tracking link that ends up at the google safe browsing page. I adjusted my browser and adblock settings to be more strict about third party cookies and tracking, and now that script is suppressed and the the link works as expected.ELEX wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 12:43 pm Rules page: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/rules

Also remember that if you need to freeze a track (to save cpu), then it has to be the whole track.
You also cannot cut and paste sections of audio to e.g. create a consistent kick etc. Easy to think "I will create a 1 bar of kick, render that to audio, and then cut and paste that sample to create the kick track".
Important to note that you can only use FX bundled with the DAW of choice and FREE 3rd party FX (time limited free offers not allowed either).
Just so newcomers are aware.

FWIW, I'm running Firefox with tracker protection set to 'strict.' Which may cause some sites to break, but links to function ??? That's just weird. Anyway, sorry if any posted links don't work.FrogsInPants wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 3:29 pmI tried FF and with the default settings it behaved the same as Chrome did. I have never participated in an OSC. There are a lot of rules. I am trying to understand them. One is "Your entry must be composed specifically for this contest." Does KVR really enforce rules? If so, wouldn't converting material from last month for a totally different synth violate the rule?

"Commercial synth patches/soundbanks are not permitted"
Most synths come with patches including the MG-1. In fact, I do not see an initialized parameter patch in the MG-1 to use as a starting point. Does KVR really check to make sure that all patches are not in some way derived from the patches that come from the synth?
Or do they mean "Third-party commercial synth patches/soundbanks are not permitted? Factory patches, tweaks, and original patches are allowed?"
If all patches are required to be original, can Cherry Audio supply an "Init" patch that everyone has to use as the starting point for all patches used for the content?

Hello all !
It took a lot of hours to make this track in one day. Thank you Team KVR for the opportunity (Never tried to make a whole track using only one synth lol) !
I have never won in any competitions in my life, so I decided to participate as an inspiration for subsequent participants (not as a contender).
You can use any sound from my presets in your future tracks.
All sounds were created using ONLY the CherryAudio's Surrealistic MG1 Plus Vst synth & Renoise DAW. No samples are used.
All the DSPs / effects are Absolutely Native (no 3d party vsts or effects)
You have the right to use any sound/preset in your future submissions, tracks or anything else. They are FREE.
*Team Cherryaudio and KVR can include my presets pack in their download packs without my permission.
*keeping the full name of the pack*
*This track will be released on my label (MEDIEVIL-MUSIC)

Synth : 9 instances
Total : 26
Master channel line : EQ > Exciter > HPF > Gainer > EQ > EQ > Gainer > Maximizer.
Effects used on send channels : Reverb / ping-pong Delay / Long Reverbs
*Sidechaine effects are made using algorithmic-triggered built-in Lfo's as shown in my Soundwave Sculpting Tutorials on my youtube channel.

You just can't buy 3rd party presets. Otherwise use whatever presets you like. Someone would have to complain if they thought a track broke rules. I don't think people are really doing that much. Not publicly anyway.
I rarely start anything with init and don't keep track how much I change a preset. I can't imagine keeping track of that.

This rule is intended to prevent covers. I think adapting previously unreleased compositions and sketches for the current month should be okay. The point is it should be new and original.Steve W wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 4:31 pmI have never participated in an OSC. There are a lot of rules. I am trying to understand them. As for patches - all factory patches supplied with the synth are allowed, as are patches shared with others and any which are freely available.
Welcome to the OSC!
