They have been around forever, their code is as old as forever. I have some of them, they do unique things, but are plagued with artifacts and could not have more wonky and outdate U/Is. I will probably never buy all of them at this point. YMMV.

I have most of them. They are amazing. They automate well. Sometimes I just like to play around with them and experiment. They are in that cateogy of plugins that lend themselves to experimentation and fun. They aren't for everyine. Very niche.

I agree, but, they are also very artifacty. To be clear, they are exactly in my wheelhouse. I haven't done anything in the last five years that wouldn't be described as experimental. My stuff is at the edge of where ambient meets noise. I am very process centric and although I've used these quite a bit, I've found that they have very narrow sweet spots owing to their artifacts. I've tended away from them recently.

Also, to be fair, they have not seen significant updates in a long time, especially with respect to the U/Is.

I dunno, they're different than most, but I think that they're overpriced today. YMMV and all that.

Agreed. The best things is to demo them and see if they jazz you or not.

I have them all and I love them.

The interface is old but is working good for me. Some plugins are very unique and I think that there are no alternative in the market.

use them all the time - never noticed them being particularly artifact-ish relative to any other plugin doing similar levels of transformation. Bought them all bar the spatial set on special or secondhand and been great value for money. I wonder what are the artifacts ghettosynth has found, they may just be the standard artefacts of fft processing at extreme setting - or not. But I havent noticed anything getting in the way of using these plugins

You combine that with pretty bad filters and yes, there you have it. It's been so long since I've used them regularly I'd have to go back and play for a bit. They're somewhat unique but it's very easy to get them to that place that sounds like "too clever by half FFT tool that hasn't had any real updates in a long time." I think that some are better than others. Obviously the delays don't suffer from that, but I found myself using their plugins less and less. A lot of the simpler ones just aren't that special frankly.

They always seem to be on sale for half-price or so but the bundles, annoyingly, overlap.

The zynaptiq stuff can also suffer from similar artifacts but gets used more often, for me.

I'm pretty sure that they haven't had any real updates, at least to the DSP processing for quite some time. I started with them when don't-crack did their silly scavenger hunt thing and the cheap bundle was either free or a no-brainer.

Ok, yeah, I looked it up, it was back in 2016 when they sold shuffling for $4.99.

I only have that, Spectral Transform and the Creative Bundle. I've tried demoing the rest and I couldn't bring myself to part with money for them, at least not the amount of money that they're asking.

I stopped doing stuff that was heavily dependent on this kind of spectral processing as it has a certain sound that's pretty recognizable.

Unrelated, I only got spectral transform in 2018, which feels like yesterday when I say it, but, feels like forever ago when I think in terms of the music that I created with it. Time, weird.

PitchAccum is my fave GRM plug. I have a couple bundles and they're unique though Idon't use them much. That said I'm glad I have them, I like creative plugins that do different things. Their gui's are functionally very efficient, you can get really wild sounds just dragging the mouse around a few times. I ought to audition them more come to think of it.

they just got updated

In a similar vein, there is SoundHack https://www.soundhack.com/

I never got my hands on these because I always wait for a sale and I missed the last one. He doesn't put them on sale that often and it's difficult to find out when there is one. But demoing these I immediately thought they were like the INA-GRM tools.

are you sure?

the download page is showing 3.10, which is the update from january. i think a press release just went out about it to coincide with the sale unless there's a beta that's just been promoted to RC.

Have them all too, love them all.

GRM Tools plugins are very unique. A bit like a special sweet sauce, it's very easy to overuse them and fall into a stew of ultra processed sounds, but when used cleverly & sparsely they can really bring something unique to your audio.

Never forget the GRM Tools have been created by audio experimentalists (music concrete, acousmatic and experimental musicians & such) and this is their target audience as well. Not created to the everyday filtering or delay (although I guess they could do the job, but that's definitely not the purpose of their nature)

UI is ok and functional, nothing to really complain really and they are fully scalable, so it's cool. What they do to your audio highly compensate that aspect.

Very cool and original sound manglers.

Bought the Complete 2 bundle in 2015 at full price. I've been relatively happy with them, but there are some plugins I don't really use and have bumped into some bugs along the way also. (The bugs I found have been fixed, though.)

One nice thing is that they did actually update the DSPs in some of the older plugins to support surround sound outputs. (For example Freeze and Shuffling, while being part of the oldest Classic bundle got that update.) They also added the "agitation" random modulation of the parameters for all (or almost all) of the plugins, which is a nice way to get extra movement and craziness going on.

You will definitely need to try the demos before buying, they are indeed quite special purpose plugins that you might not get much use out of for everyday use.
