Hey everyone, does anyone know a good active microphone which has a volume control on the mic itself? Looking for cost effective but a reliable brand with decent quality.
Cheers!

Hi skengdad,
Are you talking about a USB microphone? I don't know of any other kind of mic with volume control.
Kind regards,
Living Room Rocker

Hey buddy, good point. Nope, I'm talking about with a standard XLR output
Thanks for your message!
Maybe is there a device I can use to turn my SM58 into something similar?
Cheers

What do you have your mic plugged into?
There's always an input trim. Sometimes in software control panel when it's an audio interface.
Any pot meter will work (100kOhm log) but passive volume control is the easiest "effect" possible. Put hot & cold wires of the mic at the far ends, taper of the pot is hot output, cold output soldered to cold from the mic. Look up pinout of xlr, you will see what pin is ground, hot & cold. Ground and cold go straight through, hot has the pot inbetween and is also connected to cold.
Or pay 100 for this premade in a box, there is not much demand so its expensive. You can buy a decent dinky mixer for that money which has multiple mic and line inputs and a headphone amp.
