Ric Parnell, who played the fictional band Spinal Tap’s drummer Mick Shrimpton in the classic 1984 heavy metal “mockumentary” “This Is Spinal Tap,” has died at the age of 70, according to a post from the group’s Harry Shearer and Yahoo News. No cause of death was initially reported.

I only just saw this. Ric Parnell also played for Atomic Rooster (on and off, mainly on) from 1970-1973 and Italian Proggers "Nova" from 1977-1978.

If This is Spinal Tap taught us anything, it’s that 70 is far too young old for a Spinal Tap drummer to go. Thanks for the memories Ric and RIP.
