Hi !
It still a mystery : how people add that punchiness to their kick and bass
Kick layering ? Crazy eq on a bass ? Bass layering ? Sidechain ? Add delay to the bass for leaving some room for the kick ? Compression tricks ?
If anyone add any tips and found good results by experimenting it would be nice
Here is an audio ref : first is the original second my try of recreation

There are many ways to acheive the same results. Synthesizing my kicks has worked out great for me. I use the DS KICK module from Abeton or Sonic Academy's Kick 2 plugin. Kick layering is also a great technique but if you are not careful you could have some phase cancelation making the kick weaker. Compressing your kick + bass with a slow attack fast release will accetuate the punch. you also have to make sure you eq masking frequency between bass and kick. I hope this helps if you have any other question feel free to ask i will try to answer them!Sun-Sonar wrote: ↑Tue May 03, 2022 4:54 pm Hi !
