Hi !

It still a mystery : how people add that punchiness to their kick and bass
Kick layering ? Crazy eq on a bass ? Bass layering ? Sidechain ? Add delay to the bass for leaving some room for the kick ? Compression tricks ?

If anyone add any tips and found good results by experimenting it would be nice

There are many ways to acheive the same results. Synthesizing my kicks has worked out great for me. I use the DS KICK module from Abeton or Sonic Academy's Kick 2 plugin. Kick layering is also a great technique but if you are not careful you could have some phase cancelation making the kick weaker. Compressing your kick + bass with a slow attack fast release will accetuate the punch. you also have to make sure you eq masking frequency between bass and kick. I hope this helps if you have any other question feel free to ask i will try to answer them!

Here's a good video series on how to synthesize your own kicks : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQjK1on4nVw&t=1182s
