Aliasing on Arturia Plugins?

I was using the Mini from Arturia's V Series, and for some reason I decided to compare it with other softsynths. I compared it with Xfer Serum and U-he Diva while I just did a quick test on aliasing and to my surprise I noticed that the Mini actually performed the worst. Serum and Diva both produced almost no aliasing, but the Mini actually had a lot of it, even in the audible range. I find this kinda strange, knowing that Arturia claims to put a lot of effort in their emulations and that they even have their own ways of anti-aliasing. Anyone else who noticed this as well?
Here is a picture of what I identify as aliasing on the Arturia Mini playing a G6 note. However, I might be wrong tho, so please see for yourself and tell me what you think: https://imgur.com/a/DXO7AZy

Their Mini is in dire need of DSP overhaul. They updated the filter in V4 but left the rest as is.

I’m not sure if it’s aliasing, but the new Prophet 5 V’s audio rate mod via osc 2 sounds terrible.

The modeling engine in their newer synths is for all practical purposes a completely different engine, and light years beyond their old engines. Mini and Modular are both long overdue for a rebuild. I don't care about Mini that much because I have so many other alternatives, but Modular is another story. Hoping for that on in V10.
I have Pulsar's P900 from way back, well before they sold. It's a much better Moog emulation, but I wouldn't give that company money at this point. Their pricing is ridiculous, and I don't trust them. I am looking forward to a Modular V rebuild that will make the P900 look like a joke.

Sounds like a Prophet 5 to me. Sounds better than Repro-5's audio rate moduation out-of-the-box. You can match them by adjusting tuning on Repro so they're nearly indistinguishable. In other words, the same thing you would have to do on two physical P5s.zerocrossing wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 1:34 pm I’m not sure if it’s aliasing, but the new Prophet 5 V’s audio rate mod via osc 2 sounds terrible.
Here's an A/B from the two of them back and forth. Saw wave modulated by an OSC2 square wave.

Arturia isnt going to let their older models rot. Be patient.......They will get to updating each one eventually. It might take a few versions.....V10, V11, V12.....but they will get to it. This answer is based on common sense, I dont know for sure, but common sense says they will get to it.

Also, I assume some of you are on PC and cant use Moog's Model 15. It sounds great, but the UI is kind of rough

Funny. When the Mini V came out nearly 2 decades ago it was the best I’d heard, along with Ultra Analog. How far modeling DSP has advanced is impressive.

The thing is, they increment their product line for each collection bundle, so it shows you Mini V but the actual code is from another era.

Makes sense now. Too bad they don't regularly update the quality of their older products tho... Same thing with SoundToys, now I think about it.Bulbizarre wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 3:22 pm The thing is, they increment their product line for each collection bundle, so it shows you Mini V but the actual code is from another era.

I think you are confused, but to be fair it is confusing - the V there in the name stands for Virtual, not version number Roman Numeral 5. Or Vintage. The actual plugin name is Mini V3, and that is unchanged - it doesn't auto-increment for each V Collection version (which has just gone from v8 to v9 - and yes there the V does stand for version)Bulbizarre wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 3:22 pm The thing is, they increment their product line for each collection bundle, so it shows you Mini V but the actual code is from another era.
The CS-80 though, which HAS had a significant update, has gone from CS-80 V3 to CS-80 V4 - two separate plugins so old versions stay compatible. Even though in the corner of both plugins, they are both named CS-80 V.
In short - V confusing.

Yeah, confusing, and I got it all wrong it seems ! In the end it's better to look case by case what is up to date and what is not.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 4:07 pmI think you are confused, but to be fair it is confusing - the V there in the name stands for Virtual, not version number Roman Numeral 5. Actually I think it's not a great idea to do little sound tweaks to plugins, since then your existing projects will sound different to what you intended. The Arturia way of totally redoing them gradually makes sense.Ari-S wrote: Fri May 20, 2022 3:50 pmMakes sense now. Too bad they don't regularly update the quality of their older products tho... I look at it this way, Arturia could have updated existing code, and provided a shitty product, but they didn't.
They took their time to redo the entire code for a handful of plugins to make them superior in every way possible.
