I hope this in not dumb question.
For a while i wondered what is this Formula Column and what it does never really bothered to use it, because i never had to. I checked the manual but no mention of it i guess. I ve seen this earlier version but never really given much thought.
Here it is And while i am at this i would like to ask one more question, Since RC 4 the note names (Chord relative notes) became 1 2 3 instead of Root 3 5 etc. can i change or is there an option i didn't know of to change this behavior back to where it was like before.

There are no dumb questions...
If you hover the mouse over the formula field some help is displayed:

I think it would be interesting to make a database after analysing great melodies, for how they use steps and leaps, and in which direction. You can enter a formula here, and a motive is created based on that formula.
Right, naming of the chord notes was misleading because the second chord note was not always a 3rd, the third chord note was not always a 5th, but most of the time they correctly identified the chord notes. I will make this a user option in the future.
Thanks!
Attila

Thank you Attila
, that explains it, its a wonderful feature. But how do i analyze a melody, when i import a melody, in this case a midi file i could see just a big section with Motive 'A' rhythm 'A'. Is there any feature for analysis ?

No, I am afraid this is not yet implemented, but that would be a good idea, and quite easy to do. I was not sure if this was a useful feature, or anyone would use such formulas...
Thanks,
Attila

"useful Feature" its a wonderful feature, if it could be implemented. This could be an added advantage for RC that no other programs have yet.
Maybe this might be of little help.
For a reference point i took this example, a wonderful youtube vid. So this might be of help for others too.
Which explains a little bit about Beethoven's Sonata in F minor Op.1 (Midi file attached hope its not copyright infringement as most of its in public domain) Inside the zip are two midi files one contains Op.1 to 4 in 1 file
the other titled Untitled contains only op.1 for this eg.
RC couldn't recognize the tempo and time signature changes however Reaper Could so i separated it.
Taking the example from the above vid. and applying it in RC is, What RC does when importing a midi file into melody editor is this I removed a few notes just for my ease of under standing here it is with that midi file, Neither RC or the melody editor cannot catch the varying tempo or time signature, it recognizes scale though, only while drag and droping midi into editor, while entering through composition/workspace it stays in the same scale as composition as its supposed to be, but until a motive generator is edited with melody editor the scale remains in the melody editor remains default (C Maj), but even if melody editor is used through a generator from composition the tempo remains default. Hope what im writing is not confusing.
Now back to topic
1. RC generates the formula while using motive generator and editing it in Melody generator, and also plainly while using melody editor.
2. However it couldn't while a phrase is converted into motive generator, or while working with pre generated midi, which include from RC to melody editor and directly into Melody Editor.
I created sections and have included it as a motive phrase in the zip file (above), pls have a look.
Here is what it looks like, time and tempo are not correct but it works.
