I am completely in love with this combo. The JD-08 seems like it was made for it with it's nice selection of on board effects (which are better to me than some people give them credit for, no they aren't AMAZING but they work well for on board synth FX) and I like the sound of the synth so far, but just the way it pairs with FT2 and its workflow, oh man what a joy! Yes I'm one of those people stuck on FT2, it's the graphics, the interface, it feels completely different and inspires me. The funny part is I didn't use it back in the day but I got into tracking with protrekkr and got hooked on the low res old school video game type of look, it just does it for me I wish there were more music applications like that. The fullscreen thing is cool too, helps cut down on distractions. I wish someone would take the source and make a FT3 out of it, yes I own Renoise but it's not quite the same, plus I'm having a bit of a hard time getting everything to work properly on linux, I think I got bitwig working ok but I don't use that much anyway, I'll get renoise working proper in due time but I'm not in a huge rush because I"m having so much fun anyway on FT2.
Just in case anyone who used to use FT2 hasn't checked it out yet, clone is as far as I can tell it's pretty much a 1:1 copy, but with a few new things like optional improved interpolation and 32 bit audio engine, widescreen (fullscreen) support.... there's a few others that I forget. OH YEAH and here's a big one for windows users (I'm on Linux currently but just switched from windows a couple weeks ago), if you use the stock windows sound drivers then you can sample the sound output of your PC, so things like youtube or anything on the web are a snap to grab a sample and have some fun!
Happy tracking!!!!!

Yep that's the one, I guess I should have provided a link, but as far as I know it's the only FT2 clone. Well it really isn't a clone, it's more like FT2.5 since it's derived from the source of FT2. It's just been ported to C and SDL. That's how my non-programmer brain sees it anyway, I feel like he's being modest by calling it a clone.
