From New Composition:

1 Drag Chord Generator into Title Bar of first and only track.

2 Right Clicked on highlighted Phrase and I get and no Generator or Rhythm options available.

3 Deleted Phrase by pressing BackSpace/Delete Key

4 Selected Title Bar

5 Selected Chord Generator

6 Pressed Shortcut Key H and this added Phrase as before.

7 Right Clicked on highlighted Phrase and this time I get Generator or Rhythm options available.

Questions:

1 Why does the options not appear for drag and drop?

2 Why are Generator and Rhythm options not available for all Generators?

3 In Manual it says, Double Click to insert Generator Phrase, but this doesn't work. Has this been changed?

4 Why is it when I Right Click on Generator and then Click Insert, it only populates a single chord and not the whole Phrase?

This is because you can edit the rhythm or notes of a single phrase generator at a time.
For multiple selection the 'Rhythm' and 'Generator' tabs contain only a short message "Multiple phrases selected...".

In theory you can select two different phrase generators, which are not possible to edit at the same time, obviously.
3 In Manual it says, Double Click to insert Generator Phrase, but this doesn't work. Has this been changed?
Do you mean double-clicking inside the track does not add a phrase (the phrase browser current selection)?
4 Why is it when I Right Click on Generator and then Click Insert, it only populates a single chord and not the whole Phrase?
Please do not use this. I think it does not respect the length set in the phrase browser for phrase generators.
A trick: after you added a phrase, you can press '+' or Cmd-V to insert the same phrase multiple times.

Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attlia and thank you for your prompt reply!

I wasn't selecting multi Phrases. I was on a single track and only one Phrase. I know it pops and and says, Multiple phrases selected, but it was only one track and one phrase?

Is it seeing each Chord as a seperate Phrase?

I tried all the options for Double Clicking. In the track, on the Generator and even the Track title bar.

Double clicking in the track, just added a phrase to single chord and not the whole progression?

I've just tried this again and it adds a single bar phrase where ever the playhead is placed.

I've tried the '+' key but this does not work. The Cmd+V (Paste) does.

Is there a way to set RC back to it's default settings? I haven't change the settings, but think the download wasn't good. Hope that makes sense?

You've answered this question, so is there a way to remove/delete this post please?

As you see in the screenshots.

You have the option to select so many different note lengths durations. so could we not have this option when it comes to rests between notes, as that's the main reason why you're not getting great results or just generic results when using midi mutate or the modern rhythm generators.

there's only ever been one rest option that comes with RC and it's really Limited when it comes to modern day music

Could you please do this soon as possible

It's one of the most important things when it comes to rhythms.

The size of the notes and the space in between.

Thanks

Hi LoveMusic15. I'm sorry but I can not see the screenshots.

I don't really understand:

But that is most likely me!

Thanks for trying to help! :tu:

in your screen shot, the phrases are colored blue, and I see 4 separate phrases, not 1. If you click on an empty spot on the track were a phrase would normally be, aka as an empty spot on the track, it would unselect all the selected phrases. When a phrase is not selected, it will not be colored blue, like the 4 in that screen shot.

Good Afternoon BluGenes and thanks for the reply!

You are saying that each selected chord is a Phrase and this is the reason I get this error message?

I've been using a lot of Youtube stuff and at the moment I'm viewing the great video of 41 Fingers called, RapidComposer4 Start Here.

If you check it out from about 18 minutes in, you'll see how he uses the a Right Click on the selected Phrase. He has all four chords selected and the Editor works fine!
Screenshot 2022-08-03 at 3.42.02 pm.png
So my question is, why is the editor working in his RC and not mine?

No, that one he has selected is just 1 phrase. Each phrase has a title "header", it is that group of icons on the phrase that are pictured as a "magnet", a "lock", "m" , and text indicating what kind of phrase it is, this case above, it is a "chord generator".

the '"m" is a mute button. Those are actually clickable buttons, except for the name. Newer versions of RC also have a lightning bolt indicating it is a generator that can be regenerated.. a generator can be re-generated so long as it has a rhythm property.. not all generators have that ability.

you set the length of the phrase dragged from the phrase browser at spot above the first generator. just hover your mouse of the word "bars" and scroll with the middle mouse button. That is covered in my v4 getting started set of videos, if you haven't watched those yet.

So why did the Phrase in the video have one group of icons; Magnet, Lock, Mute and Lightening, while mine had these icons above each chord generated?

If you drag from the Generator, you get individual icons, M, L, M, L, but if you select the title bar and press H, you only get one set of icons. I've just added a video on my latest post about this. I would like very much to hear you comments as you are a long time user.

in RC, at the very bottom on the left is 2 help buttons, one for the mouse, the other is for key board short cuts.. You are just choosing the wrong short cut to use..

You probably want to use F, but, you have to select the generator type in the browser then click the track header, and press F.

H is for filling the track with "chords" only, one phrase for the entire track. (no matter what you have selected in the phrase browser)

Take the time to get the know the short cuts and remember that if something isn't listed in the PDF manual, then more than likely it does have a "hover hint", meaning hover your mouse over whatever and you should see more information. Not everything will have a hover hint, for example, the track header. That wouldn't be required because you should already know what a track is, therefor no hover hint.

As always, you can also just aske here..
cheers
