Creating D-50 Patches on an XV-5080

I'm getting an XV-5080 in the mail in a few days (very excited), and was wondering if the 5080 has waveforms from the D-50. Specifically if it is possible to recreate D-50 patches. I know it has (most) of the JD-800/990 waveforms but I'm not sure how they all tie in with the D-50.

The reason I ask is I found out a few years ago that the D-50 features heavily in the Star Trek TNG soundtrack, and, as I dabble in making movie/tv soundtracks, I would love to get some of that iconic/nostalgic sound for my own recordings.

Oh and yes, I know I could just get a D-50, or a D-550, or a D-05, etc etc. I'm just wondering specifically about the XV-5080. Thanks!

I think the owner's manual of both contain a list of all the PCM waveforms. Your homework, not mine

You say StarTrek TNG? The weirdest sounds are made with things like ring modulation. The D-50 can do that. Does the XV-5080? I don't have one and did not look in the manual.

Don't know which is better now. I used another domain that does not exist anymore.
It was a single zip file with everything in it. 50 sysex or more.

I spent some days loading a couple of dozen sysex files and picked what I liked and filled up all User space almost. It's 512 locations so plenty of space to collect stuff you like.

If there are any Roland that a fun to make sounds with, I have not found one.

Time for several afternoons of reading and research

I already discovered some interesting tidbits of information glancing over the XV-5080 manual a few days ago, like creating custom folders on external SCSI hard drives and saving/loading patches and samples from said hard drives. It even featured a warning in the event you have 2 5080's attached to the same hard drive (!!?) to not load data to both instruments at the same time.

And I don't know if the 5080 can do ring modulation. It's a neat audio manipulation method that I forget about far too often. Further research...
