Full disclosure: I grew up in the Beatles era, but was not a big fan of theirs, although I have their 1967-1970 album. My favourite rock/pop songwriting combo didn't really hit the limelight until after the mid '70s.

Sure, not everyone can be a Beatles fan from the very beginning, and not everyone can tap into the magic of the Beatles for themselves. Because there are other, really great bands and musicians. Which of course leads me to ask: what is your band from the 70s (or even 80s?) that shaped you and socialized you musically? *curiously asking*
