How about restricting the notes used?
Any 4 notes but also their octaves and as chords. So you might go C2, E2, G2, E3, B3

I looked a couple of my past works. In a simple canon I used all seven notes of the scale, and the count tops at 12 notes when the composition format is more relaxed. Four notes restriction calls for some inspiration.

Never seen this low number of submits. Just a few hours left to convert whatever you people have to a polka!
(2/4, 120bpm, lot's of 1/8 notes and german Oktober Fest)
