I remember this string pad very well, we´ve heard it not just oce, it´s maybe a certain preset.
I have no clue what it really is, not even if it´s a chord or what, don´t even get close.

Any hint, any help, any other track appreciated. Thanks!

it's just a supersaw chord
once you have the notes right with a supersaw you're pretty much there. add some white noise et voila

Hey choos,

that was my first impression, too and I ended up like wtf (after probably listening way too long!)??

The wave is sawish, that´s obvious and we also have that deflecting noise floor that starts in the beginning.

But ... the composition of the harmonics is "irregular", seems to be much more complex, the overall sound is "blurred" and somehow "excited". Maybe H3000 (micropitch) or similar. Definitely special somehow. A chord like I have tried them sounds way too "dense". The harmonic spectrum is way more complex ... It might also be sampeled chords processed again.

I have tried to get close with DUNE3 - different modes of detuned Unison + lots of chorus / H3000 and was really surprised how big the difference was. That´s why I ask ;-)

However - my main interest is the source. It might well be a preset and nails "90s" for my ears. No vst sounds alike :|

Do you have a tip for getting the chord?

Have you put together the midi/chords yet?

If so post them here in a zip file and I'll have a look tonight (probably tomorrow night cause I've somewhere to be, but if I get a chance)

Forgot to mention that the Velocity has to be turned up because some notes are louder than others and it does change the sound

Oh I was too late :/ Thank you for figuring ot the chord and the tutorial, choos!

I´m always in a hurry and often don´t take enoght time. ADHS probably. Figuring out chords is ... yeah and sounds without the right chords are just waves aren´t they?

However - the sound from your demo and my try in DUNE still don´t catch this "rocket launch energy" that made the MDMA bubble up again while chillout, but yeah - as you already said - "basically it".

And I feel so overwhelmed again with all those keys on my keyboard :|

Question: is thre anything that you want to do? To hear? To have? May I help You somehow? My HDs are full and yeah ;-)

Hahaha
I have no idea what you mean by that bud :)

About the track:
Listening to just the chords is gonna feel empty and underwhelming but once you add in the ARP and perhaps some other elements to fill up the sound and delay+reverb then things will come to life.
There's definitely some white noise in there too.
