HINDER by INERTIA SOUND SYSTEMS.

HINDER brings uniqueness and character to your tone. You can't go wrong with it.

New is not always better. That's why we looked into something that was proven and true. Bucket Brigade Delay has stood the test of time, but since we were not limited to the confinements of its era, we kicked it up a notch.

Its core has been accurately modeled after BBD principles. But it comes with many useful and creative features, towards sound design and versatility. It aims to be a swiss army knife when a vintage delay tone is needed.

Features
  • Accurate BBD modeling with sound tweaking freedom.
  • Overall tone for brighter or darker sound.
  • Separate or Linked Delay Time for Left and Right Channel.
  • Focused or wider delay effect control.
  • Feedback LP / HP analog modeled filters.
  • Feedback Compression module with amount and speed controls.
  • Overdrive via the HEAT parameter that applies to the resampling and feedback filters.
  • Delay line modulation for Chorus and Flanger effects.
  • Bit Depth and Quantisation artifact mix control.
  • Synced to host or free running.
  • A portable and intuitive preset system.
  • Explanatory on-screen tooltips on mouse hover over the parameters.
  • Minimal, clean UI.

Thanks, we tried to take the design language from our previous plugins, a step further. Also we're streamlining the authorization and some other things, that will make their way into the GRANULIZER 2 & INSTINCT updates, so as always, feedback is always welcome!

I don't have a huge need for delays atm, but, HOLY MOLY... I followed the link to your website and stumbled across Instinct! That thing sounds out of this world!

We're extremely happy to hear that! We spend countless hours arguing about each tiny detail, but it feels good to see people appreciating it, so thank you :D

A bit pricey, and the name is so negative. “Hinder”. That means to impede to make difficult. Will Hinder hinder my creativity?

I have mixed feelings.

On the one hand, there's some very cool character here and I think I'm going to grab it. It might be a little nicer if it had both lowpass and highpass in the feedback path, particularly with the Heat up.

The delay time modulation range is far too much when you're not using short base delay times. With the main delay at 300ms, the GUI reads "Mod Depth: 0.0%" while Bitwig says the delay time is 0.145 -- and at that amount the modulation is extreme. It needs to be down around 0.01 to be reasonable...

The Width control as a delay time offset is nice for syncing or linked times. Not so useful when you're using individual left/right delay times already. I found myself missing the style of width control in ValhallaDelay (a mid/side level mix), so I put Hinder into a Chain device in Bitwig to follow it with a Tool to reduce the width, and that immediately sounded nicer to me.

I've got more delays than a QANTAS flight, but Instinct and Granulizer 2 are two of my favourite plugins, so...
