Thinking about buying Reason, and I wondered, is it possible for me to change the location of where Reason can recognize and load Reason Rack Extensions?

In Reason 11, I see a way to control the locations of VST plug-ins, but I don't see a way to control the location of rack extensions. Given that no non-Propellerhead software would have an opinion, I'm curious why you would want to do that.

Main reason is that my main hard drive is low on space and I'm planning on installing Reason on the external hard drive I have.

Ah. In that case rack extensions probably aren't your biggest issue.
Reason comes with large sample libraries and a Reason+ subscription implies more.
As well, my guess is that by the time you've accumulated enough rack extensions to pose a significant disk space factor you'll have spent more than it would cost to upgrade your internal disk.

I have not actually tried this with Reason, but in my experience swimming upstream like this is more effort than it's worth.

I haven't tried it, but I remember this thread from a while back about relocating Rack Extensions (on Windows):

I can confirm the mlink method works for relocating Reason REs. I have all mine installed on an external SSD drive.

Do I use mlink on the windows command prompt, or PowerShell? Is it possible to create a batch file?

I used the command prompt window. Eazy peazy. I did it once and that was it. Don't over complicate the process.

Everything works fine with mlink, it shouldn't be something anyone 'needs' to do. Install routines have been perfected for 20 years.
Have you tried Vital?
