Hey. I am seeing some interesting plugins from DUY on AudioDeluxe over the last while. I don't know this company... anyone have any feedback on them and their products?

Never heard of the company. Expensive. Two reasons to stay away from them.

Seems like they're one of the OG plugin companies from back in the 90's

I guess they've just updated their plugs to modern times ?

oh...sentimental journey...
they used to be one of the very first iirc
and used to be quite active here on kvr iirc...

I've never heard of them either...

I remember them from way back. Never had much interest. They were among the Apple snobs -- Soundtoys, McDSP, Metric Halo, etc, who were Pro Tools and/or Mac-only for the longest time.

And even though DUY is still Mac-only, they're not even native Apple Silicon.
They look like they haven't been updated in 20 years. Here is an actual interface from DUY.com:

They want 349€ for that.
I'd stay far far away.

$ 35 here:

I guess € 349 was the price they asked more than 20 years ago for it. I would not expect any other DSP inside, just adaptions to new OS versions…
They seem to be home in studios which don’t care about prices but care about hypes…

Very good and interesting topic ...

DUY was one of the "quality standard" devs in Protools I believe up until the 90s.
Became viral with a tutorial vid of Charles Dye "Mix it Like a Record".
His back then new approach was to show how to create ITB analog chains and sound (in PT)
and amongst others like MCDSP he used DUY DAD valve & tape on every track and busses.

Long story short,
users then became frustrated over the time bcs of price tags, almost non existing support,
lot of probs with licenses etc.
Reputation was way down to the north and DUY became almost forgotten.
Looks like there are efforts for a comeback serving MAC & PC.

One can say todays ITB standards are different, Charles may use other devs now
but one can also say DUY still is a valid contender even with their ancient palette.
What I have learned so far support & service don`t have their act together,
good bunch of complaints over at forums (some are happy yet).

I personally wait a bit until I see where the trend goes in terms of service improvements
and how things are going on PC.

Any user who wants to report, feel invited to do so.
As I said, very good and interesting topic ...

Charles Dye changed ITB mixing forever. Everything I do to this day is based on his method.
