Best approach for usb hubs and dongles

Hello kvrers,
I'm running Ableton 11 on a mbp 2.9 ghz quad core i7, with 4 usb-c ports, to which I need to plug a PreSonus sound card, a Keylab 49 controller, two Roland Boutiques, a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard. All of this devices use usb2 plugs so of course, I'm using some hubs to accomplish this. Still, I'm getting some occasional audio crackles from the two boutiques, and I'm trying to optimize the situation to help with that.
So I ask myself, and whoever reads this, two questions. 1)Is there a particular way to divide my connections to aid the processes, meaning souncard in one dongle, controller and Roland instruments in another, mouse and keyboard on a third one or does it not matter. And 2) Is it better to use a 5 pin midi cable between boutiques and sound card as opposed to relying in the usb cables which also power the units?

Question 1

I would try the following connection:

USB Port 1 > PreSonus Audio Interface

USB Port 2 > Roland Boutique 1

USB Port 3 > Roland Boutique 2

USB Port 4 > Active USB Hub > Keylab 49 + Wireless Keyboard + Wireless Mouse

Which would you say is the best clock source from my options. I’m finding that the audio from the boutiques lags behind ableton clips. I can adjust with the track delay but it is not very consistent. The drift changes when I start and stop.

Sorry, I’m new to this adding hardware to my daw system.
