I've been looking at the Drums capsule for awhile and noticed that minimum rerquirements for OS just changed recently. Formerly, it seems it would not work with win98, but now your site lists 98 along with newer OSs.
Checking IK's site shows that Sampletank 2 only works with 2000/XP. Which is correct? (I'm on 98 if you couldn't guess already)

Part 2: I really want to output the samples to battery.kits and then import them to DR-008. Is the OS really a requirement then, or is it only for the Sampletank 2 plug included with the capsule?

If the OS requirement stands at 2000/XP, can I output the data on another computer and then transfer it to my computer via flash drive, CDR, etc?

Thanks!

The sounds themselves work on all of the platforms but SampleTank 2 LE works on the latest OS only (Windows 2000/XP and Mac OSX). If you check on esoundz.com now you'll see that it reflects this so there is less confusion.

For the most part we support 2000/XP. Windows 98 users are faced with increased reasons to use a more recent OS and of course it is from most of the industry not just us. But, anyway, you should be able to use the Battery sounds in your DR008.

FWIW DR-008 (v1.21) crashed on me when navigating through the sample folders when using Battery import multiple times. I had better luck just opening the kits in Battery and mapping from scratch in DR-008. Some of the velocity splits that were mapped to separate pads in Battery didn't import correctly anyway. And I also have a tendency to put things where I want them.

I guess that would be an issue DR008 has with reading Battery. We may just add DR008 support to the UFO eventually... although with Battery 2 and Drum Nine around the corner we may just wait and add those.

Thanks for the replies.
Squids: What about the UFO? Will I have to use it to output in battery format? Is it compatible with 98?

Ah, good question. I think it is actually but I don't use 98 anymore and since the software instrument part of the package isn't 98 compatible we were really going the angle of just saying NO to 98.

You would need the UFO to output it to Battery though I believe (although the AIFFS are on there and in a worste case we could send you the Battery files separately). So, you wouldn't be stuck without being able to use the sounds in Battery one way or another so you could give it a try. Or you could ask the person who created it, Garth. His email is support@chickensys.com He could tell you and my guess is that he'd say it does work with 98.

I think it is. It seems to be okay if there's one sample directory. It could be the absolute or relative path thing. It doesn't happen just with the Studio Drums Capsule.

I have a small problem with the Studio Drums UFO and it might be an attitude problem. I wanted to put the programs on a separate drive from the samples and change the folder names. It wouldn't accept the changes. I keep checking for updates.

For Battery? That has to do with some limitations of Battery. Maybe Battery 2 will be more flexible for moving samples around. But, the way it has to output to the UFO (so it is also compatible with everything else) it is done a certain way. Of course, you can always ask the creator of the app about it if you had any thoughts or questions. His name is Garth: support@chickensys.com

Not just Battery although the path to the samples seems to be included in the .kit files. In the UFO I selected Battery, Kontakt, and NN-XT. Then I wanted to change the drive and folder names. Changing the drive is fine. Even picking a folder is fine but you can't get rid of two nested subfolders "\SR Sound Libraries\Studio Drums Capsule vol.1" in Programs or three nested subfolders in Samples. It doesn't hurt anything, I would just like shorter or different paths. (Folder names)

Garth didn't reply to Sonic Station UFO problems so I don't expect to hear from him.
