Does anyone have experience with FAT Channel XT emulations? They don't get talked about enough, especially when these days everyone is after analog emulation plugins. I'd like to hear what you'll think about these and if you'll have tried them or compared them to the other more popular counterparts.

As far as I understand, these are the emulations:

Brit Comp: SSL Bus Comp
FC-670 Compressor: Fairchind 670
Comp 160 Compressor: Dbx 160
Alpine EQ-550: API 550
Baxandall EQ: Baxter EQ

They also have a couple mix engine fx:

Alpine Desk: API?
Bit Console: Some SSL console?
Porta Cassette: Tascam?

I ony have the standard fat channel stuff which has the generic compressor , tube comp and fet compressor .
Non of these have the state space modelled logo ,don't like any of them .
The eq's otoh are state space modeled , passive (pultec) , vintage (neve ) , and use them from time to time .
I do think there are a lot better options out there.
Can't comment on the payed mix engine stuff , only have the standard one .. but read good things aboutnew mix engine add ons
Eyeball exchanging
Soul calibrating ..frequencies

I was very very disappointed with the Brit Comp...

At my standard settings for use on individual channels (attack to 3 and release to fastest = .1) ist distorts like crazy while all other emulations just handle these settings fine...
The Brit Comp I always to set at least to .3 release but even there smaller attack settings weren´t possible either without crazy distortion...

Second it doesn´t accept any sidechain and the inbuilt filter is something like a bandpass filter which never helped me in any way and prevents being able to use some cool mixing tricks...

I personally think even the included emulation in Reason works far better than this thing...

Ahh alright, seems like they're just present to fill a gap or to provide an option to people who like working with analog emulation plugins, but aren't too serious about it. Always wondered why they aren't talked about more. Thanks for the input guys.

Those comps (emulations) that are included for free cannot handle short attack. They don't distort, they give this unpleasant digital crackling. Seems like they are for the sake of "completeness". Like: "We have it too!"
