How can I recreate this lead sound from a piece of trance music from the 90ies that has again caught my interest lately?
The song cannot be found online so I extracted the relevant passage.
I've been trying for some time now to recreate this sound but I got stuck on the details.
The vague sound seems to be a plucky sound with a closing LP filter on (maybe) a mixture between a saw and a pulse with some EQing to shape it further. (There's also a particular delay and reverb, but this is not important here.)
The onset of the sound is the part that causes me some trouble and I couldn't recreate most of that strange pluckiness that comes from there. How can I achieve this?
Is this a kind of layered sound or can it be recreated synth based only?

I have many questions popping up now:
Is it a layered sound and the Pizzicato is just one layer? Is that what you mean?
I found some pizzicato sounds but I don't know which one you mean:
One is on a youtube video at at 5:30 min.?:
Is this the (layer) sound you mean?
However, this Roland sound doesn't seem to be online as a soundfont.
I could only find some more classical music pizzicato string soundfonts or some that are useless, e. g. here:

But the sound in the video sounds more like a synth sound and these sound more like real instrument pizzicato sounds:
- 142 pizzstr
- The "faithless pizzicato" sounds terrible if you listen to that (!) They got that completely wrong or they made that on
purpose to annoy people.
- The other pizzicato sounds further down?

yeah that video's is pretty bad (but ive heard worse) I dont have any myself but I hope someone here can chime in if they know where to get some decent ones
