I bought the T-Racks tape collection a few days ago in the BF sale and just tried to install the plugins.
What the heck..? I had to install the COMPLETE bunch of T-Racks plugins on my system drive (which I DON`T WANT!) just to be able to run the few tape collection ones?

Please someone tell me that there is a different way to only select and install the tape collection!!

I deleted my IK stuff be cause of how bad TRacks installation processes was. Also because their rep, Peter, chose to get Pas Agg about it.

Their other stuff isn’t so bad but TR is a fuster cluck.

‘Just delete the stuff you don’t use’ said IK’s forum influencers. Yes, just delete it every f**king time there’s an update.

YMMV, IMO etc

If your host has a plugin manager, like Reaper, it's better to hide the plugins there. That way, you don't have to worry about repeating the clean up process with each update.

I like most of IK's stuff but yeah their installation process sucks. Like people above mentioned, you have to manually delete the plugins you don't want or hide them in your DAW.

You see, I should have tried that ( not sure if possible in Logic?) rather than following somebody’s advice to delete them, only to have them come back after an update.

Oh well, that’s a good tip for OP to try 👍🏻

I´m using Bitwig, I don´t think it has the option to hide plugins.
But this can´t be the solution here, guys. Noone can force me to install something I don´t want or need!
If there really is no way to just select and install what I bought, I will delete the Tape collection and ask for a refund. If they deny, I will sell it and never ever buy a single plugin from them again.
This is what I´ll do.

Another approach to try is just ignoring the other plugins. It all depends on how much you like the TRacks you have. For example, years ago when there weren't many tape echo emus out there, TRacks had theirs and it was not only a good one but based on my favourite hardware, the Echoplex. I owned it but none of the others. It didn't bother me and I just ignored the others. Eventually I ended up upgrading to the whole bundle. But if the TRacks you have aren't worth it to you, that's a problem. Try and ignore the other ones. IK won't fix this because they don't see it as a problem big enough to prioritize fixing it, based on their response to the issue.

the fun begins when they switch their activation procedure :). just a warning.

What I don’t like is that on Mac, you don’t get an option of which plugin format(s) to install in the installer. So I have to go and manually delete all the VST2 and AAX plugins after each update. But IK is far from alone on that.

It’s a little annoying that some developers do that, but I don’t pitch a temper tantrum over it.

Peter has stated that the T-RackS 6 installer will let you chose which plugins you install.

So once or twice a year…
And that’s only to add a new model that you didn’t buy. Your T-RackS plugins are unchanged after the semi-annual update, so why do you even bother installing it?

I hope it doesn't mean that installer will force the installation of one more app just for this task :D
