I ´m sitting here for one hour now and searching for a songproject I did a few month ago.
I bounced it to wav and renamed that wav.
:-o

Now I don´t remember the original name and don´t find it anymore. I can´t even remeber which host I used.

And about 200 tracks 0n 4 different hosts is a lot to search through.

So now I know I need good catchy names that help me remeber the projects. this I learned now :-(

I renamed groundflights from a worktitle and I have no clue which it was when I wanted to do a remix and had to download it off my own site just to have an mp3 version at least :-o

i use a new folder for each project ...

... named in the format 2004-10-10---more-descriptive-name ...

... with further subfolders for mixdowns / audio / MIDI / project files (.als / .flp / whatever) / etc ...

... i also name each version of a track according to date and however many major changes ive made that day (ie - 2004-10-10---1a) ...

... all a bit anal i guess but it DOES make things easy to keep track of

I figured it would be easy for you Rob with only two tracks per year :-o

had the same idea a few minutes ago to make a folder for each song
This can be a bit unconvenient, but safe.
Think this will work for me.

I was just about to write the same!

However, I do similar structuring. It does make sense. But then, I'm a teacher, too...

that convinces me to do it too.
Though I´m not a teacher, but when I was young, I wanted to become a teacher, hope that qualifies me ;-)
