Why does every Waves plugin come in three versions?

Mono, stereo, mono to stereo.
Almost every other plugin manufacturer can hide this functionality inside one plugin.
Anyone?

I don't dislike Waves, there are a few plugins I'll never uninstall (adt, mv2, ren comp...).
But my waves folder in studio one looks like I've got Mercury installed although I have 12-15 plugins only.

Exceptional value at <10$ per plugin. But you have to buy three.

I think it’s because 25+ years ago Pro Tools plugins had to be explicitly mono or stereo, and Waves has always maintained absolute compatibility with older versions going all the way back, and have just stuck with that booty old-school way of doing it.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Because Waves chose to do it that way?soulata wrote: Sat Dec 17, 2022 12:43 pm Mono, stereo, mono to stereo.

I do also find it annoying.

Channel-management in VST2 in combination with sidechain wasn't always a charme or convention either
Fabfilter, UAD, and Sonalksis did this too and their support told me.
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

Despite the fact Waves plugins actually sounds good and became industry standard for a reason, they’re so much old school that anyone who starts make music or other audio stuff modern times will find them unreasonably cluttered with a lot of legacy stuff inside… There was a moment when I completely abandoned my Waves account and never look back. So much annoying stuff like WUP, double-triple plugins and overall inconsistenty still hold me against.

2x - 3x plugins and legacy stuff were not a problem at all, but putting up with their update plan turned out to be really not easy for me tooDombaeb wrote: Sun Dec 18, 2022 11:57 am Despite the fact Waves plugins actually sounds good and became industry standard for a reason, they’re so much old school that anyone who starts make music or other audio stuff modern times will find them unreasonably cluttered with a lot of legacy stuff inside… There was a moment when I completely abandoned my Waves account and never look back.
