The Ensoniq SQ-80 was the second synth I ever owned. So when I heard Arturia was making a VST version, I jumped on it right away, even though I still have the original machine sitting in my studio. Earlier this year, during a move, I found a 35 year old diskette including SQ-80 patches I had programmed in 1987/88. Miraculously, the disk booted up and the sounds loaded up flawlessly, so the first thing I did was save the banks as SYS-EX and import them into SQ80V for posterity.

In the spirit of giving, I am now sharing these with you for free. This is a bank of 40 of the better patch I found on this old disk. I was just a kid when I made these sounds, so manage your expectations, but hopefully you'll find something useful and fun in this bank.

Enjoy!

These are great Tom, Thanks.

I never had an SQ-80 but I did have an Ensoniq EPS in 1989, not the same I know.

From memory, these sound much better than my EPS did.

Cool to see people from 15 odd years ago posting. I remember you from the Seattle Industrial board and of course your solid EBM output.
