Cubase stuck on exit

Hi,
I have a weird issue with Cubase Pro 12. When I close it most of the time there is a modal window hanging until I kill the process. Cubase writes a log but it seems to be binary, so not much help.
I tried to delete settings, first time issue was there but on the second settings removal it was gone. But it returns randomly. It is most probably due to some plugin but how can I find out which one?
It happens if I open with a new project and then close.
Thanks for any advice in advance

Cubase hanging on exit is a classical behavior at this pointh0g0f0g0 wrote: Mon Dec 26, 2022 1:30 pm Hi,

Did you try to exit via menu: File -> Quit?
Did you try to wait longer?
I have Cubase 10.5. I had this hanging behavior on some older versions, but on 10.5 i just need to wait a bit longer before it closes.

Cubase is very sensitive to this, but most times it is due to a plugin.
You have to try out wich.
In my case it was the old Limiter 6.
As I had that in all of my projects cubase crashed on nearly every shutdown.

Menu is basically not accessible anymore, there's just a thin strip with window name and menu. So I have to kill the process to exit. I know it must be some plugin so I will try to disable all and enable them one by one.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't think disabling is enough. You need to remove it completely from the project.

Its a traditional feature nowadays
Its usual a driver or a plugin not letting go at the end. Windbg usually shows the culprit. In my case ATI drivers or one of the plugins. Last time it did this (cca 15 minutes ago
) it was their own VST Connect (windbg !analyze -v command):
SYMBOL_NAME: vst_connect
MODULE_NAME: VST_Connect
IMAGE_NAME: VST Connect.vst3
Ive noticed that it usually happens when I quit after performing a mixdown of a project.

If a DAW application is hanging upon exit, it can also be due to a MIDI driver.
ie: Years back, the Korg USB MIDI driver could cause similar issues.

This has existed as an issue since forever. I don't think Cubase actually cares
I wonder what happens if I press this button...
