I use the one that comes with Cubase - Squasher, and it's multiband too. Dunno if you can get it separately outside of Cubase though. AFAIK it comes with C12 Pro and Artist only, possibly might be in the smaller versions? It's pretty well Steinberg's version of OTT but with a proper GUI that you can understand and control properly. OTT is the other obvious one - personally I think the GUI is absolutely awful even after they made it bigger (unusable prior to that unless you had a telescope or had Superman eyes that can see into different dimensions). But it does what it says on the box.

Fabfilter Pro-MB.
Paralel downward compression is quite similar to upward compression, but it's not the same.

the rest is nice but imo different sounding.
you could also try:
raising jake studios db smooth
Adaptr audio Sculpt has similar functionality for expansion - but is more complicated to use.

Nope there isn't.Digivolt wrote: Wed Jan 11, 2023 8:00 pm As the title is there anything else like UrsaDSP that does upwards compression/limiting in such a great way ?
Boost works in a completely different way than all others. It's much cleaner and has a way different range also.
So, while others might give a similar result in some cases, there's nothing out there that goes from straight-up maximizing to placing sounds in a mix in one go.
And so far i have heard nothing that can control decays and reverb tails as clean as Boost. Only thing i can think of is DMG Mulitiplicity but it would require some more tweaking and is way more expensive ofcourse.

That's what I was thinking, the alternatives offered are okay but they're not quite at the level that boost is at in terms of effort required to get the same effect, guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for a sale for itdionenoid wrote: Sun Jan 15, 2023 4:52 pm Boost works in a completely different way than all others.
