Took some time to sit down and read the posts about the best Roland.

I even looked at the shops and some cool machines.

On the other hand, the format is tiny and not possible to use it correctly.

The sound that comes out of these shops is really excellent, a very particular grain and a real resemblance to the sounds emulated by the Jupiter X and Juno X.

Even if the price remains excessive for me and not really justified, because only digital management / processors and nothing else in reality.

Nothing analog there.

Here not an analog / digital debate, just a reflection, characteristics of the Juno X.

Despite all that, surprisingly, I really love this Juno X.

The sounds that come out of this fabulous Juno X anyway.

Definitely an internal processing of the Juno, but it still sends.

Have you tested the Juno X and what are your actual impressions of this machine.

I would like to have an objective opinion on this product and not a fan boys opinion and others.

At this price, really need to know in concrete terms if this Juno X is really and really worth it for a purchase.

Post

No. Half the price and it makes some kind of sense.

Thank you for your answer.

Yes indeed, it is true that for 1000 euros the right price also seems to me, given what the Juno X offers.

Although sounds fantastic, outrageous price anyway.

Roland at the time not very subtle and intelligent.

If sold at 1000 euros, they would come from pallets and pallets.

But apparently Roland's crazy about sales.

Especially since the price difference for the Jupiter X isn't much higher.

Strange and meaningless selling strategy choice.

Has anyone been able to try and test the Juno X?

Can you compare it to Jupiter X?

I'm really interested in learning more about both the Juno X and the comparison with the Jupiter X.

Considering the price difference which is not huge.

Some good info what can be expanded on Roland Cloud with a purchase

Everything not in JunoX can be upgraded to what is on Jupiter X, like Jupiter 8 and JX-8P and SH-101.
But wonder who will actually make own sounds on JunoX with just one set sliders for envelopes, that is horrible. I got fed up trying on DeepMind and sold it.
- once amp slider are set you have to press a button to make sliders for filter
- and then they are inadequate.

Will this in future be the same for Jupiter X, the Juno60 model also in roland cloud?
I think as sales have stabilized it will.

Here more sound comparisons, but no matter how he dial this JunoX sound like Jupiter X with a blanket over it. IMO of course.

Seems Roland JunoX strategy is to make a good market for those selling preset libraries than owners making own sounds.

If Juno60 comes along on Roland Cloud for Jupiter X I think this is the way to go making own sounds and have everything JunoX has and more knobs per function.
I looked at Tim Shoebridge and his review on Jupiter Xm, and I did not fancy that way of menu diving he showed. How to make scenes and stuff. Have no urge of any of them. And how Jupiter X got it's display far up left in a corner I have no clue what the thinking was????
- Jupiter Xm and Juno X has display in center
- then any menu diving is a little easier at least

I am more curious about what Korg might have up it's sleeve to come soon. I doubt they give up on having flag ships on analog in production. Korg usually expand some on what is available being inventive.

I'd rather see a proper Juno 106 or 60 reissue, which most likely will never happen. This thing here doesn't make much sense to me in a world where TAL-UNO-LX exists.

Post

Thank you for your answers.

So as it's possible to have it all on the Juno X as well as the Jupiter X, the choice here seems more to be an aesthetic and control surface choice than anything else.

One more positive point for the Juno X, the screen in the middle.

I would also have liked only the Juno emulations, more relevant and above all the price would certainly have been less exaggerated, exorbitant.

I'm migrating to hardware, so I don't want vst anymore.

Even if the Juno X can be assimilated, with processor resources for layers and others.

I think Roland lives in its own world now. They can just reissue sample libraries with hardware shells and customers will come again. No one carries the Juno-X near me so I cannot say how it sounds in person.

Trouble is, that's pretty well what JunoX is - VSTs inside a hardware controller. But the controller is matched only to one particular VST, which is their 106 emulation. The Jupiter makes more sense, as the controller is better suited to other VSTs (it has more physical knobs & sliders), but you obvs pay more for that. Roland make other hw synths that make far more sense if you're migrating to hw. JDXA immediately springs to mind...and probably better value too (though debatable).

Even if they remade a real 106, tbh it would not likely be a sensible buy, because: 1) they'd make it a ridiculous price ( it's what Roland do) and 2) it would still be a shitty 106 that is already bettered by almost every other analogue poly on the current market some of which would definitely be cheaper. Nostalgia is the only reason I can see to get one. I still have my old genuine 106 and Alpha2, but I wouldn't buy a re-release 106. 106 was so popular purely because it was the cheapest poly analogue at the time and had midi. Not much competition at the time if we're honest. Roland don't do cheap nowadays.

The JunoX looks great though...I seriously admire what they did with it's physical form, but it's a silly synth imo. VSTs in a very pretty dongle. I'd quite like one, but really it would only be as a studio ornament, and I hope I have more sense than that (not sure :hihi: ).

Roland is very optimistic about these.

Thank you for your reply.

Indeed the Juno X is a box with a plugin and adapted processor resources.

The sound that is produced is really of a good quality.

Even if a certain nostalgia for Roland's golden age, the excessive and nevertheless unjustified price will end up hurting Roland's sales at one time or another.

Well, looks like someone got one for Christmas and sold it to my local used music store.
I have to say, the presentation is vary nice. The colors look great and the black knobs have a nice ridge texture. I wish more synthesizers came with those.
The sound is good, but the first thing I go to is the filter section and it isn't even close to realistic.
It sounds like they told an AI to simulate an analog filter. I mean, if they would market this as a digital synthesizer no one would say anything, but Roland has to keep referencing their legacy over and over...AND OVER. Switching to Juno 60 mode and listening to the presets it does sound like virtual analog has come a long way since the JP8000. If you had never heard the original you would be very happy with this synth- if you didn't mind the dot matrix display...HELLO ROLAND IN 2023 AT THIS PRICE POINT YOUR COMPETITORS ARE USING OLED.
That they put a headphone out on the back AND front shows they were trying to throw everything into this thing...but this made me laugh out loud in the store:

The big concern of Roland, he is totally crazy about users, customers.

they are in their world and surf on an analog nostalgia with digital, even worse vst in a beautiful packaging of Jupiter and Juno.

Even if it means trying to revival as much as doing true analog.

In addition, the prices are exaggerated for software.

Even if the sound is really not bad at all.

I would be interested in a test with the Jupiter X, Juno X, cloud Roland and the Arturia V collection.

Almost certain that the test would be most surprising and that the Cloud version of Roland or even Arturia, not many people would know who is what, since only software.

And even if difference, 300 / 600 euros instead of 2500 or 2000 the choice is quickly made,

J LOVE Roland, but for quite a few years of nonsense.

In addition to the really exaggerated price, 500 euros too much.

Also good for Jupiter X, XM, JUNO X.

Only vst in a beautiful box, that's all for real.

For those who don't understand my picture- you can chose to emulate a 'warm up' or not and also select the temperature to start from as well as an emulated 'age' of the synthesizer....I did not try to hear a difference.
Let me know if this is a feature you want on your hardware..

That’s so tacky :dog:

I stopped taking Roland seriously a long time ago.

The JD-XA is innovative in both technology and sound. It's an amazing synth. At least give them that due.
Even if it means trying to revival as much as doing true analog.
SE-02 is legit.

MC-707 and TR-8S are cool boxes. SH-04a and SH-4D offer a lot for the money. Integra-7 and Fantom are near perfect instruments for many users. Personally, being a huge fan of Roland romplers, I love the concept behind the the Jupiter-X but my understanding is that the analog modeling inside the System-8 is better.
