A song that makes you cry, happy or angry or whatever, maybe a song you prefer listening to by yourself in order not to show your extreme emotions caused by the song
My song is The Beautiful Ones by Prince
I like everything, the amazing synth sounds,
the piano, the melody, the voice, the arrangement with the climax in the last part with his powerful and touching screaming and the guitar.
The beauty and power of this song almost kills me emotionally, no other song touches me that much.
Prince: All vocals, bass, electric piano, synthesizers, electric guitar, Linn drum machine and cymbals
What's your song?

Unfortunately I could not find a good quality video of the song from Purple Rain movie

Etta James - I'd rather go blind.
Two chords. 2:30 seconds. A whole lot of heartbreak.

It comes down to either this -

Or this -

Both by New Model Army, both from Thunder & Consolation. They were really on a roll for a while there.

This Mortal Coil - Another Day
Devastates me every time. Elizabeth Fraser has such a wonderful voice. This Mortal Coil in general are superb. IMO.

For an opposite vibe, Atlantic Ocean - Waterfall. Takes me back to simpler times. I like to jump around the f**king room while listening to it. Nostalgia and bittersweet euphoria.

The musicianship and lyrical prowess reminds me how mediocre me and my life are and i get sad.

On what is ostensibly a music forum, I am really surprised how little interest a thread like this has attracted. Surely it goes to the heart of why we do this at all?

This I think makes me tear up some, regardless.
Now, I think it’s a *great* song, knocked me out in ‘79 or ‘80 whenever it was, but it’s the performance. For all I know this is just good acting, but it sure feels like she means the f**k out of this. There’s some real pathos locked away in this song. I’m not swayed by lyrics per se, ntw.

ok, not particularly an adam lambert fan..but he absolutely kills on this cover of cher's 'believe'
the arrangement and performance are so very different from the original I'm in tears by the time the strings come in.

Really? Which parts of those songs make you tear up? Both those songs have a bit of energy but no emotion whatsoever.
She's pulling faces like she's stuck her hand in the garbage disposal and someone's switched it on. She's got a hell of a voice, though, and it is definitely one of those songs.jancivil wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 4:26 pm This I think makes me tear up some, regardless.
