What's new in crusher-X 10 ?

Switching crusher-X to the Glitcher mode will let your grains surf on an audio wave event! This leads to glitching beats, surround slips, crazy audio jumps, short-term loops and hipster sound scratches. Glitcher Mode anchors grains to auto-selected incoming life audio events and modulates the grain around these anchor points during the grains life-time.

A controllable spectral selector will help you to mask the audio input and auto-trigger the respawn of a grains to the next audio transient in the incoming pipe. Expect nothing but less than the next level of granular life experience!

This upgrade comes also with a new set of raw ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) sounds are added as a source for granular sound design to make your audience shudder and cringe.

The new live spectral controlled transient sensitive trigger system with a twin filtered interactive frequency selector allows to create way more sophisticated grain buffer fills, glitch selections, respawn and quantization event triggers. The output of this interactive formant filter can be used as an additional input signal for the Granulizer.

This opens the door for sophisticated granular filtered sweeps and advanced and color rich drones.

And crusher-X 10 supports professional sound design studios with providing an AVID AAX version for Windows and macOS (incl. native Silicon / M1 support)!

Congrats on the update.

Unfortunately for myself, I just bought into Crusher-X a few month ago and have only scratched the surface. So it feels too soon for me to invest another $100 already. No biggie. I’ll just hold out on 10 but it looks cool and I hope it’s successful for you.

Your upgrades are always so CREATIVELY useful and expanding, and certainly enthusiastically embraced here

Thank you for your continued development and THOUGHTFUL additions.

I would also note, though NOT supported AFAIK...this upgrade (as did previous ones), CONTINUES to work fine on OSX 10.9.5...which is still my preferred and main studio machine, so that is a MOST and always gratefully welcome surprise

Concerning 'Glitcher', with 'InpTrigger' off, and no audio input connected at all...it still 'randomly' triggers?

I currently have the 'Reset' preset loaded, 'Glitcher' on, 'InpTrigger' off, DCO 'Stop' no audio even connected to plug-in (AU version) and transport stopped...and it still triggers ~every 60 seconds (coincidentally same as Grain Buffer size)?

Anyone else experiencing this?

As I said, I am running an unsupported OS, so wondering if it's just a OSX 10.9.5/Audio Unit thing, or if it is affecting other users/OS/Plug-in versions?

Glad you noted this feature, as it had escaped my attentions initially...some very different and inspiring variations using 'Rotate' options

(and automating 'Glitch' such as to have multiple temporal layers of real time input).

fyi: We got a few user reports about crashes of the new crusher-X 10 release and we already provided a fix for those with the version crusher-X 10.1. Please download again the demo or as a registered crusher-X 10 user you can download the full version as it is described in the delivery mail.

Release Notes crusher-X 10.1:

Fixes crash on fast moving of the filterpoints in Transient Trigger
Fixes crash on moving the DCO markout to the very left position
macOS: Fixes seldom crash on closing number edit fields
macOS: Fixes crash on AU validation

Hi,

in case you have troubles setting discrete values (like e.g. the Grain Modulation modes) with crusher-X 10 AAX under Protools, please download a new 10.1 build with the fix as described in the delivery mail.

Quick-ish question

Can Crusher do subtle? I've listened to to as many of the demos as possible and read as many of the reviews as possible and the impression that I have, which may be wrong (I hope it is wrong!), is that Crusher wants to pulverise your sound. I make kinda experimental ambient / modern classical stuff (I'm really into people like Fennesz and Rafael Anton Irissari). Am I looking in the wrong place with Crusher? Am I better off looking elsewhere? Or is Crusher exactly what I am looking for? I absolutely love granular, so I love the idea of Crusher, just wanted a bit of reassurance before I buy. Thank you

Crusher can do everything related to granular synthesis and most of the demos only reflect the more radical aspect.

Looks that Fennesz and Irissari are a lot into shimmer reverb droning fed by natural or/and string sounds. Maybe a bit in that direction is done with crusher-X here:
