Man, I am loving Tonex. I don’t really have anything to capture, but I sure do appreciate those who sacrifice.

Been a while since I posted in this thread but have a nice update I'm proud of.
I spent all day yesterday capturing my new '79 Vibrolux Reverb and dropped a big batch of 14 captures for free on Tone.net. The amp has gone through a full restoration back in May of this year, with it's internals having been "black paneled" in the process by Rob DeAntonio who did a killer job. The stock 2x10 came to me with a pair of the Eminence Alessandro 10's. Captures are with an SM57 and Beyer M160 with a 50/50 mic blend (just sounded "right"). The 57 was right up on the grill cloth - the M160 looks a little further back due to the head basket but the capsules are phase aligned.
The 14 [Advanced] captures cover the various channels (Vibrato Bright Off, Vibrato Bright On, Normal) with various levels of gain from very clean to dimed for all those channels/combinations. I'm really pleased with how this set came out. Not to toot my own horn too much, but I'd put these up against any commercial captures of a Fender black or silver panel amp. People who own Vibrolux Reverbs tend to say these are the best Fender amps because it's the classic cicuit with 6L6's (like the larger Super Reverb or Twin Reverb), without being too loud for home but loud enough to work on gigs, still having a tube rectifier, and light enough to be more portable than a Twin or Super. It's perfectuly situated in between a Deluxe Reverb and Super/Twin Reverb. Owning one for a few weeks now, it's all true! This amp is special.
The captures with the Bright switch off were dialed in with 2 Strats: one with Dimarzio Area pickups another with Rocketfire Total 60s. They have a little more bass and generally higher settings on the treble knob. The captures with the Bright switch on were dialed in with a Les Paul with PAFs and a little less bass and lower treble knob values (to compensate for the presence of the bright switch) so there should be something here for every lover of classic Fender amps. Once the amp volume is way up, the bright switch really has no effect so those captures are really just about different bass/treble levels compared to the non-bright swtich Dimed and Crunch captures.
Why no DI captures? The only reactive load box I have is an Ironman II Mini and 1) it's only rated for 25-watts (less than the amp), and 2) it's DI output sounds like a wet blanket. It's fine as an attenuator for small combos, but not a good DI box. Maybe some day I'll buy a Suhr Reactive Load. For now, if you want DI captures, sounds like AmpGems/jhideout has a wonderful set of his '78 coming soon with a free sample on Tone.net. Note: I tried his sample with my cab and it sounded great.
Obligatory photo from the capture session. Hope you guys enjoy and if you do, give 'em a like on Tone.net (not that it matters )!

They're 14 individual captures so I'd just go to tone.net and search for funkybot. They'll come up.The Noodlist wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 2:36 pmNice and thanks. Got a link?
