Has anyone used a personal PayPal account to receive payments on Bandcamp? Bandcamp recommends using a business PayPal account for this purpose, but this requires actually registering a company (I'm not sure if this is the case in all countries), which is too costly and complicated for me. I'm wondering if there would be any issues with using a personal PayPal account to receive payments instead.

I do, just linked my only PP account I already used for purchases. I don't even remember it mentioning business accounts though was a couple of years back.

For perspective, this is very low volume (handful of purchases ever), 'hobbyist' level, if you're expecting to sell a reasonable amount, run a label etc then maybe a business account makes more sense, can't comment.

Indeed, a business account is only useful if you expect to sell a lot. Otherwise, a personal account is more than enough.

Why go through PayPal, they'll just skim another few percent off everything that goes through the account? Why not link it to the same bank account you have your PayPal account linked to and cut out the middle man?

can you do that? I’ve had my bank block paypal’s access, they sided with a fraudulent charge and didn’t even acknowledge my report but doubled down. I had to act. Their taking a cut of my miniscule bandcamp is deadly anyway.
the rest of my view of the enterprise is strictly from HPC.

TBH, I'm not sure. I set mine up years ago and I can't see where I'd be able to change it.
