Hey KVR, we've just launched our new plugin OxyOTT.

Image

OxyOTT is an advanced OTT-style effect plugin.

At its core, it is a 3-band dynamics processor with 2-sided dynamics per band, making it capable of:
  • Downwards Compression.
  • Upwards Compression.
  • Gating.
  • Expansion.
Each band features in-depth control over all the thresholds, ratios, timings, ranges and in/out gains, while also being easily scalable by the global Amount and Time parameters.

It very closely replicates the original OTT sound, popularized through modern EDM music, and extends it with many complementing features such as:
  • Linear Phase crossovers.
  • Mid/Side OTT processing.
  • Up to 4x oversampling.
  • 3 different styles, each featuring peak & RMS algorithms.
  • An output soft clipper.
  • Amount per band.
  • Lookahead per band.
  • 2-sided ranges per band.
  • Width control.
  • Mix dry/wet control.
  • A/B states.
  • Undo/Redo.
The UI is designed to give you an easy overview over all the important controls to allow for a quick and easy workflow when adjusting the effect.

OxyOTT's application is versatile as it can be used for many duties, such as processing bass, synths, drums, vocals or mastering and more.

80+ factory presets are included, including 2 presets to replicate the original OTT settings.

A free demo is available on the site.

Price: €59 until 7th March 2023 (regular €69).
Formats: VST3 (Windows), VST3/AU (Mac). OxyOTT has native M1 support.

What's the difference between 'amount' and 'mix'? I though the 'amount' knob on ableton's multiband dynamics is just a dry/wet control. I wonder if it's mixing each band internally to avoid phase issues.

Amount is scaling all the gains & ratios, that's what it does in Ableton too. Mix is indeed dry/wet mixing each band after the crossover to avoid the phase cancellation that would occur when not using linear phase filters.

I'm already covered for multiband comp by the one in Cubase (Squasher), but have to say I like your GUI. Looks nice, obviously laid out and would be very intuitive to use. Not normally a fan of flat 2D GUIs but yours really works. Good price too.

is it better then free ware OTT? in what exactly?

It's actually a fully capable and versatile multiband dynamics effect, while the freeware OTT is just a rough recreation of the one preset in Ableton that only allows for some general scaling of the effect.

I've also noticed the freeware having a few DSP bugs, such as not scaling it's timings with the sample rate, so it actually sounds completely different if you change the SR.

Freeware also can't do gating/expansion, especially gating combined with downwards compression per band is extremely useful in my opinion.

Other than that, I think the OP already lists many features that go far beyond what the freeware does, think mid/side processing, linear phase crossovers, lookahead, oversampling etc.

Absolutely fantastic! A definite buy for me :phones:

what kind of copy protection?
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

Online Activation (Challenge / Response). You can activate 2 machines at a time per license with unlimited deactivations. Plugin will work offline after activating once until your hardware changes substantially, in which case you just need to reactivate.

Finally!! I've always wondered why nobody was adding a proper linear phase filters to the OTT effect. Using it pretty subtle it can glue everything together very well.

Small but important update:

//1.0.3
-Reduced file size on Windows.
-Fixed connectivity issues on older macOS versions.

If anyone has feedback or feature requests, just shoot them my way!

Hey OxyDSP ... out of curiosity, this have sidechain input per band? Or, just sidechain input. I guess only something like Cubase could handle multiple sidechain inputs, and they have Squasher.

Hey Bill, currently there is no external sidechain support in OxyOTT. I could see adding it in the future if there is demand, but I would have to evaluate the possible implementations first before I could tell you how it might work.

Hi OxyOTT, out of curiosity, how did you go about matching the compressor algorithms for each band to the original. I’m guessing neither you, nor Xfer, nor Slate got a chance to peak at the code. I also noticed that your plugin doesn’t null with the original (although it does sound very very close to me - if not identical). You put 2 presets in, the second one imitating the Xfer version, so I’m guessing that the Xfer one isn’t identical either (all these years I just assumed that it was). So, any insights you have here on the development, or, the challenge of cloning a sound like this would be interesting! Thanks!
