I'm going to sample my Rhodes. Don't tell me to get Scabee, it's in the mail. But I'm going to do it anyway, proof of what a nerd I am.

I'm in the process of making a simple key thumper using simple hardware (2x4, hinge, whatnot). If anyone has any good ideas or experience, please let me know. I'll share whatever I come up with.

I plan to end up with a number of rather long files, each containing a number of samples. I'm in the process of writing a program to chop this up, trim the silence off both ends, identify the note, and name the results accordingly.

I'll need some help with the math for identifying each note. The code listed here doesn't seem to include what I'm looking for. If anyone has any pointers on this, please let me know.

If there's already a free or very cheap program to do this, please let me know. Otherwise, help me out and I'll post my resulting program for free. I'm mostly doing this as an educational experience, but I'm a professional software engineer so I'm up to the minor programming task here. I don't plan a GUI, just a command-line program. If someone wants to do a GUI, fine!

Thanks,
Jeff
